Hey, I’ve seen it discussed on some old threads but I’d love to hear more. Im curious about your spring turnout routines, when you switch to them and what you would prefer.
I have managed to have mine out in the day and in at night with the grazing just about surviving all the mud with a lot of rotation. I have been thinking to have them out at night and in in the day but the grass and temperature isn’t quite ready yet.
wojld love to hear more about what you do ?

My boys have been going out daily for up to 6 h. In at night. They stay in this routine until the nights get warmer then they go out 24/7. I don't usually bring in during the day as we have hot wooden stables.

Ours are living out with a shelter these days but prior to that they were in at night in winter and when we were both working f/t out for 12 hrs daily. In summer they have always been out 24/7, we have found that this suits every horse we have had, while the current 2 are doing very well with living out.

They've been in overnight because we had flooded fields, but I've just fenced off the dry bit of one field and hoping we can go back to 24:7 turnout. Once the big field stops being a marsh the track will go up and they'll live on that until about Oct

I have 5 living out so that won't change, and 2 currently in at night. the stabled ones will have to stay that way round until the grass gets a bit better because i can't hay them in the field.

We have four living out at the moment, apart from occasional bringing in for respite from severe weather/very wet ground. However, spring is when we start bringing in, in the morning. We have stables with individual turnout, so doors are left open and they mooch, picking at limited grass until growth in big field slows down/burns off a bit.
