As per the title. :)

What type of spaniel have you, and how much do they weigh? (fully grown) And what height are they? :)

Gratuitous photos welcome :D H xx

Otto is a Springer Spaniel. A proper one, not a midget one. He has a HUGE barrel, although his waistline is still catching up!
He is 21 inches to the shoulder and weighs 22kg at the moment, although he is distinctly underweight and needs to gain about 2kg to be a good weight again.
And just 'cos you said I can :p :D

My Parent's Working Cockers are on average about 16 inches to the shoulder and around 15kg.

Apart from this little mite... ;) :D

Harvey is 8 months old and a Show strain Cocker Spaniel.

He is almost 16" to the shoulder and currently weighs 19kgs. He's much, much bigger than Jasper, our old cocker. Much wider ribs. He's not overweight, but does still have a lot of loose puppy skin.

Don't feed him much either and he is very active.

Having had the pleasure of meeting Otto, the photo was a little unnecessary, but still much appreciated! :D :D

Thank you.

Out of interest, do many of you struggle to keep weight on your spangles? xx

But you KNOW I can't mention him without a picture! :p :D
Popples is just a Short-Haired Working Cocker, I'm not sure why you keep trying to convince us she has terrier in her :p :D

In answer to your second question, Otto is horrific to keep weight on! Two of my Parent's dogs are skinny beans too, the rest are porkies :p All of them eat enough, it's just the loons that burn it off! :D

I did with Jasper, our old Cocker. Harvey seems to need "watching" more as I think he will be prone to weight gain. His mum is big and gains weight easily.

Along with bouncing about like Tigger when he wants something, wanting to sit on your knee and have his back tickled as well as being quite vocal, I think Harvey also carries the "I could be a fat bap" gene.

LOL! I might start telling people that. My neighbour is so fed up with explaining what she is to people he is now telling them she is a bonzai labrador

Here is Popple were her working cocker friend, Molly - the similarity is obvious...

Yet I actually get far more people questioning the spaniel in her, I think it's pretty undeniable when you see her in action ;)

Mind you, so is the terrier when she's feeling obstinate. The other beaters would laugh and say "that's the terrier half" when she was being cheeky last season. Thankfully, she seems to have outgrown that teenage phase now. I've actually had three people in the last week say "I wish my dog was as well behaved as yours!"

we have 3 working cockers

the little liver bitch is the very small speedy type - she was 9kgs when we got her (from a "wrong" home) and is now 12kgs - she's about 14" at the shoulder but how you measure cockers accurately is anyone's guess

my red dog is 17kgs and about an inch taller - he's easy to maintain weight - runs up when he's working, gets rounder in the summer which gives him a bit to work with once we're shooting

the youngest, chunky red bitch, looks and works more like a sprocker - SO much fire and drive - and definitely broader across the back - but she has a waist and a good shape, just very broad when you look down on her. She's the same height as the dog, but weighs about 18kg - mostly muscle!

Oh so yours vary quite a bit in size.

I am surprised at how small Pops turned out, I really thought she'd be bigger, but I was just trying to gauge how different in size she was to most springers and cockers. She is 9 kgs, and erm, short.... I haven't actually measured her. Making her stand still long enough might be challenging.... ;)

I have a springer and a sprocker/field - both are 21kgs

The sprocker is definitely overweight but not sure by how much really. her weight is a nightmare to control.

The springer is the heaviest he's ever been and looks just right :D

Bramble who is a 15 month old (midget/improper) working type Springer Spaniel bitch, measures 18" and weighs about 16 kg. She is spayed and has a tendency to get a bit porky if not watched.

Never posted a pic before so apologies if this doesn’t work or is huge.

Bear is currently 22kilo's and 45 cm high
Pippa is 17 and a half kilo's and 47 cm high
Bear is spot on according to vet, Pippa needs to gain a pound or two (though the appearance of that fatty lump makes us query that!)

I have a springer who is lean & lanky - 49cm & weighs 24kg. He was quite skinny when we got him from the Dogs Trust & a bit stressed from being in kennels for 3 months but has filled out quite a bit. He is now muscly & his ribs are covered but has no spare flesh - he just runs it off! When we were trying to get weight on him we were told to feed things like pasta & also things high in oil, but in the end he gradually put weight on as he got older - he's 4 and a half now. I also have a springer/lab but don't know if he counts. He is about 54cm & currently slightly overweight at 30kg (although he gets less to eat than the springer)- should be 28kg but think that's the lab in him!!!

What an idiot I am! :o:o:o:o

Just realised that I could see the pics I posted but no one else could - guess this is something to do with the fact I had the album set to private?

Will try again and if these photo's don't work, will hang my head in shame and never darken the doors of AAD again!

At last measure Ruby is a fraction over 13 ins at the shoulder and weighs 10kgs. Working Cocker at 10 months.

Yay!! Love seeing all the photos of your lovely spangles!

I have a cocker called Amber, she is very old and cranky now and getting v plump in her old age. Think about 12.5kg last time we had her at the vet. She won't walk very far now so doesn't get so much exercise.

I'm really interested in working cockers and springers though.... I think that will be my next venture. Are they really a lot different to show cockers as those are the only dogs I have any experience of owning.....
