Squidey muddy bits in field - can anything be done?

Just wondered and didn't want to hijack Tegan's thread.
We've got poached bits around the gate where we tie up to groom, next to where the hay bales are and along the fence line where they "chat" to passersby.
 
I have a very good land manager as my yard owner. I think she was a land girl during the war as she is amazing. But if she sees any chance at exchanging woodchip for manure she takes it. Excellent for muddy areas or marking out a school area in grass field

Do you mean she puts woodchip down or that she puts manure down? Sorry I'm having a thick night ha ha! :o:D
