Stable mirrors...do they actually work?

I'm thinking of putting stable mirrors in my mare's box, as she gets a little anxious when horses are taken in or out if when the box next to her is empty.
Has anyone used one and it has actually helped, or are they one of those things that don't really make much difference?!

Yes, friends horse was much more settled whilst on box rest - beforehand he had to have one of his neighbours either side kept in for company.

Didn't effect mine either, he weaves and has separation anxiety when on box rest.
He didn't even look at it ?

There is a Window next to my field gate and in the morning when the light is in the right place it is like a mirror. Every morning when we go through the gate my pony looks shocked and stops to say hello to himself, admittedly he's clearly not the brightest of sparks but I think if he had one in his stable he'd quite enjoy spending time talking to himself!
