My 5year old 16.2hh tb is going swamp surfing everyday coming in up to her shoulders and over her hocks in thick mud everyday. Grass is very low at my livery yard at the mo so she is obviously going into swamp to find it.
Her feet are dry and cracking after lots of work on my part with hoof moisturisers. She is loosing shoes at about 4-6 a week since the mud dipping started obviously this is no good for her feet and is expensive for me, barefoot is not an option.
She's very hungry but holding weight well.
Am I going to blow her brains keeping her in for a few days until horses move fields next week.
A exercise and feed routine would be great I really can't risk injury with her as her training is coming so well she was started late and is now going fab and don't want any set backs

Fence off the muddy bits? Feed hay in the field if grass is that low?
Tbh going in mud every day ought to be doing the opposite of drying her feet out - suggests perhaps a change of diet needed as hoof quality will come from inside out, moisturisers etc all very well but won't fix a problem. Is she really losing 4 shoes a week?!

Fencing not an option livery owner will not do this and it will take away so much of field. She is currently fed NAF Pro feet and supahoof. Feeding hay in field also not an option as they are a bunch of stroppy mares. For example she was shod all round last Wednesday and last three shoes by Monday

Bring her in during the day for a few hours for a haynet? Though if my horse had lost 3 shoes within days swamp or no swamp I'd be asking some serious questions about the shoeing and the horses feet.

Do you have photo's of her feet?
