As we got some offers of semen with a mare we bought I'll be using My O My a rather nice holstein stallion by Loutano on three of the mares.
All our mares are from the same line of ID x TB which produced Seacrest/Cruising, we have found using them with our Belgian x TB stallion is working, so probably wouldn't have changed that if we hadn't had this offer.
First venture into AI but our own stallion will still have a couple of mares plus we have had bookings from several visiting mares this year too from people who have seen him out competing.
I'll be looking forward to 2010 to see what the holstein cross will bring, he's a big lad at 17.2 hh who has youngsters proving themselves in eventing, and I think we will hear more of him as they progress.
None - we cancelled all our breeding plans (just 2 mares) as nothing is selling over here currently for anywhere near their true value. Foals etc. are going for less than their stud fee
Horsk will get his first chance to 'prove himself' this year, we'll be using AI, with a very good jumping trakhener mare. Were hoping to get a good eventer, or a horse that can excel in both jumpingand dressage, but will inherit Senya'stemprament, and the mares stamina. We will probably keep this foal until it has been started under saddle, and them either sell it, or keep it to compete. We'll be having others, but this is the one I'm most excited about.
I'm going to use Adonnis - a licensed UK based son of Gribaldi on my little Faberge x Rubels mare. If I knew how to insert photos I would, but I don't!
Just posting because I found a photo of when I visited the stud; we are using a don stallion for several mares this year, he is Zagorsk, and curiously if you search for him in english you get information about a perfume. He is notorious for passing on his fabulous paces, and hopefully the mares we've chosen will emphesize them.
i'm thinking Cicero van Paemel or Berlin for my Cornet Obolensky x Calido x Indoctro, however i could be tempted with chippendale z. i did like Calvados Z at the weekend but i feel he is too small where as Cicero should help in the height department. Cicero is also young and could potentially be a future top horse under dirk demeersen.
for my For Pleasure x Sandro x Saros xx i'd like you use Contendro. this has been a popular cross with several foals of this combination being sold last year at auctions, the mare Con Pleasure was the celebrated 2005 OS Champion Mare, there is also VDL Callahan who is Contendro x FP x Argentan and Con Pleasure the stallion who stood at Gerd Sosaths. maybe it would be interesting what the result would be by using Caretano instead, Contendro's uterine brother. Diamant de Semilly and Singulord Jotter are other options i'm thinking about as i'd like to keep the amount of C blood down if i didn't use one of the brothers.
At the moment and this will probably change:
Animo mare to Lord z,
Cobra mare to verdi,capitolist
cavalier mare to vdl arkansas/cobra,
Ricardo z mare to Numero uno,
lux z mare to Numero uno,
Vdl arkansas mare to cobra/verdi.
Diamond lad mare to Jack of Diamonds.

I am debating what to do with my mares. My older mare won't be an option to have a year off, she is 21 this year and providing she foals down healthily and happily I would love to have another foal from her as she is just a super mare.

Dannydunne have you contacted the stud recently about Diamant, as I spoke with them in December and they were unsure whether Diamant would be breeding this year due to colic ops. But if he is available now then that is great as we were looking at using him this year.
No choice really especially with the credit crunch, sticking with my own boy Mill Law. Have used other stallions in the past, got a lovely Fleetwater Opposition yearling filly, but tend to stick to proven stallions which have produced proven offspring, boring i know but i personally think it reduces the risks, breeding is so damn expensive that i think anything you can do to end up with the real mccoy helps.
Well have not decided yet wether or not to put mine in foal- if I do she will go either to a International jumping pony stallion that was champion french grandprix pony in 2007, he is Trakehnher X Arab X TB X Welsh that also moves well with a good temp. Or go to Corland or Kings Master.
I was all decided but due to a few reasons am now looking again. Am off to SallyFs next week hopefully if the weather is kind! Also someone locally has bought a Ben Faerie stallion I am off to view but hes too big and 1/4 ID, which is too much, but the stallion I originally chose was also by BF so would like to go and see this one, if that makes sense!
Merit again. I know I'm the only one who likes him but I have a cracking 5yo by him out of my Welton Wilful mare and now he's only down the road from me.
Pleasure (Krack C x Facet x Nurprimus) to Santo Hit
Waikiki (Weltrhum x Matcho AA x Trapper) to San Amour
Babylon (Koss x Krack C x Facet) to Rhondeo/Quarterback
Ursela (Olivi x Krack C x Facet) to Santo Hit
Whitney STER (Gentleman x Iroko x Austronaut) to Santo Hit
Susanne Landra (Kigali x Landwind II x Rex Magna xx) to Carenzo/Stalypso/Chaccomo
We're using our stallion (Santo Hit) on some of our mares, San Amour on his mother Waikiki as she had a really great filly by him last year and the she works so well with Sandro Hit blood. We're undecided on whether to use the Rhondeo free return (from another mare) on Babylon or to go for Quarterback and the jumper mare Susanne Landra will either go back to Carenzo depending what she produces from him this year or possibly Chaccomo who looks nice or Stalypso who we've liked for ages.
Cant go wrong with Cicero but also check out Contact vd Heffinck. Contact has an impressive and correct conformation, who also shows tremendous elasticity in his movements. But when it comes to jumping, theres no better youngster like Contact as there seems to be no limit to his scope, combined with a technique that can hardly be improved. His descendants are tall horses and they all like working. They combine jumping techniques with a lot of scope.
Also can recommend Utillo vd Heffinck, Quality Touch and Quite Easy from Brullemail. A big rising star for Germany is Cristallo (Son of Obolensky) - awesome. For me this year its Clintissimo Z.
What is Clintissimo's semen like this year?? I know that last year, Steven at Z told us it was very poor. Twemlows also likened it to dish water.... We love Clintissimo so don't think I am insulting him in any way as we REALLY wanted to use him last year and only didn't when we heard those reports from the guys direct at Z and from Twemlows.
Garuda K for sure on one mare, and possible on another.
If I like my Sempers Spirit foals this season, I may breed my Demonstrator mare back to him.
In Flagranti is top of the list for the only Trakehner mare I will breed from this year, as the other is to go and be backed.
I adore Blue Hors Leredo and Borowski for my coloured mare but no decisions made yet. Might put her back to Showmaker but I might look at regazzo more closely too
i've seen some very nice horses by utrillo but he is clinton x hb as is cornet so it maybe a bit close and that means cristallo is out aswell. i did consider clintissimo but i also heard the semen isn't that great and dont think he will bring enough height... or that awesome backend!!!
the 1st foal from sandro beast has been born recently, any one condering him?
