Stally opinions please... Igguldon Skye Laird

I'm not particularly after a Jumbo baby as such.
Skye just caught my eye when browsing, and the Jumbo breeding was a plus. The only reason a Jumbo stallion would be appealing would be because of the obviously trainable temprement, I'm not after a superstar after all!
Med Night Mahout is the next on the list of Jumbo possibles though....

I have seen the first stallion in the flesh, and these photos do not do him justice. I hardly recognised him in the 2nd one!!
He is more compact than they show. I saw him when he was carrying a little more condition.
My neighbour has decided to use him on her eventer mare.

I know Med Night Mahout - he stands alongside my stallion at Cliveden.

He's a really super stallion: very compact, v good conformation, only 2 points off being Advanced - and has the nicest temperament ever! And his stock are excellent.

IMO he would be a much better choice, and he's available by AI.

He is a LISTED stallion with the Scottish Sports Horse, this is the lowest grade.

Scottish Sports Horse

His marks were 62 for conformation, 62 for movement and 60 for jump. Not the greatest of marks.

Dont really like him, he is a very peculiar shape and his body looks like it belongs to another horse, far too weak in the back, croup high, and when he moves he is doing it downhill, no elevation at all.

Think you could perhaps find a far better model of an eventing sire.

Have you looked at Bollin Terry standing at West Kingston? He is another SSH stallion but is Registered.

Thank you Nomis, very interesting. I tried the SSH site the other day for more info on how they actually assess their stallions (wasn't sure how their grading compared with SHB UK) but the site was down.

Thanks to everyone else for all your great suggestions and advice. As much as I love Jumbo I can't afford to use the man himself just to sire my little one which will probably never make it beyond local shows for as long as I'm in the drivers seat!
Med Night Mahout has got some great reviews from you lot so I might look further into that, and will also be ringing SallyF to arrange a trip to see High Tension.
Thankyou!

i dont like him.i dont like how he is put together and i dont think he is outstanding enough to use as a breeding stallion.
i think your mare would be far better complimented by other stallions.
its not even like his results are that good......
