Hi
99% of the time my lad will stand for me to get on at home, and wait for me to do the girth up etc.
However, if we are somewhere exciting, like a sponsored ride, or a hunter trial, all this training just goes out the window.
I hate it, and really wish I could get him to stand there too, but at the same time really don't want to get in a fight as when he is excited anyway fighting with him just makes it worse, and I really need to keep him moving to get his excitement bubble to burst as soon as possible!
So my question is, at events like that, or out hunting etc, do you just sort of forget it, and accept that there is no way he is going to stand? And hope that things get less exciting the more you do it?! And that maybe some day in the far future he will be able to stand anywhere?
