The say the same features only the cushion ride is thicker and squidgier.

I definitely want to get one but can decide on which one. I need the comfort rather than the stickiness. I've got a heather Moffat seat saver but it is rock hard until my bum warms it up.
I just wondering if the thicker one is any more comfortable than the standard and is it worth paying the extra £10 ?

I've got the standard one and it is super squishy as it is :) I'd say that unless you have nails sticking up out of your saddle seat the standard one would be fine.

I have a standard gel-in seat saver, not to keep me in the saddle but because I don't get on with Albions (horse has a K2 jump) and I find them to stick out at every point my seatbones stick out, making for very uncomfortable walk hacks! I love my seat saver, it's definitely made a difference and is enough to keep me from getting sore on an hour's walking hack (I only hack). I'd like to try the thicker one as I have quite a bony bum (!), but I am happy with the one I have. I'd suggest going for a "normal" one unless you have an abnormally bony bum, or get really really sore!
I actually found the Heather Moffatt one too thick and it rubbed my seat at the edges of the seatsaver.

I have the standard gel out one and it is nicely cushioned - sadly I have some natural padding of my own though... The thicker one may be too bulky and distance you too much from the horse.
And although I would say I didn't need the stickiness it has helped a couple of times!

I do have an odd bum in that I'm a para rider and have muscle wastage on one side.
I had a comp on Friday and due to the bad organisation the para class I was doing was missed out and dispite me constantly asking I was left in the saddle in the freezing cold for 2.5 hours. Needless to say I've not left my sofa all weekend.
Being distanced from my saddle or horse would probably bother me. The heather Moffat is quite thick but I felt ok on it. I guess I don't want anything thicker than that.

Those who have a standard gel out, how thick in cms are they just so I can get an idea?!

I'll measure mine when up at the yard today. My gut feel is just less than 1cm.
Sounds like an awful experience on Friday - hope you get your mojo back soon.

I have the standard one and wish I'd bought the cushion one. I'd read such good reviews on here but I've been a bit disappointed to find that I get a sweaty bum riding in it too. It isn't dirty but I don't find it particularly "sticky bum" either. Still, better than nothing.... and better than sheepskin or a HM SS. Hmm.... maybe I need a sheepskin over the top, to stop the sweating!!! :D

I have both. Personally, i can't really tell the difference when riding in them both. They're both comfy and both help with stickiness too. To regain the stickiness, wash it in warm water with a bit of fairy liquid in and leave to dry.

Depth wise, the HM one is by far thicker than even the cushion ride.

I haven't measured mine, but I use it on my dressage saddle and had to put my stirrups up a hole to compensate. They are reasonably thick.

If that is the case I may get the cushion ride one! I'm happy to go as thick as the heather Moffat and if you say is not as thick as that I'll be happy.

I also ride a hole shorter in it. Looked at mine today and it is about a cm and much thinner than my HM one (which I don't use anymore). It is also really squidgy and flexible - I find the HM one quite solid. If you are happy with thickness of HM looks like you could do either. Happy shopping :-)

I wish they did a thicker version of the gel-in. I like mine but it's not quite thick enough and I don't want the stickiness of the comfort gel-out.

I've just bought the acavello cushion ride gel out seat saver and it arrived next day from horse health.
It came this morning and it's lying on my dining table at the moment and I can't stop going in and squishing it can't wait to have a go in it tomorrow. From what I've seen of it, it was worth every penny!
Thanks for all of your help.

I have the standard gel out one and the first (and only!) time i used it i had my first (and only so far) fall from the horse that i have owned for the last 7 years!

It was probably a total coincidence but i have fallen out with it and stuck it in the bottom of my tack trunk lol

I found that it took some of the depth from my saddle seat and i'm blaming my ungraceful dismount on that :)
