A friend of mine is doing the Pre-Novice 2 Day Event at Stockland Lovell, and I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere in the Gloucestershire area where he could take his mare to do some steeple chase practice?

Any suggestions gratefully received

There's a couple of yards in the Tirley/Hasfield area which have flights... wil try and think of the names for you!
Other than that I would suggest Maismore, but obviously that will be a no go!

I would not worry about it - the course is very simple over about 4 fences and you do 2 circuits so 8 fences in total. As long as you kick on the time is not too hard to get.

I never practiced it before my novice 2 days, most XC schooling places have a chase fence but like said above, keep kicking and don't go on a stride you can't see!!!

I was about to ask whether she'd perked up at all, but you just answered my question!
Has he tried her on propell plus/iron-x-cell or similar? I've found that can really help pick them up when they've just lost their sparkle for no apparent reason.

She's had a week off and had blood tests last week - tests all fine, which is sort of good and bad - it would kind of been nice to have had a simple vitamin deficiency to resolve. She hacked last night and seemed a lot brighter, so fingers crossed it was just the weather depressing her

I think in R's shoes I'd probably not worry about doing anything to do with her 'job' for the time being and be boxing her over to different places with great hacking so that they can have a blow out without her feeling like it's work. A trip to the beach always works wonders too!

I do believe that's the plan

R's and H's thoughts exactly as you say - let her have a break from her job, but keep her fit enough

Hopefully she'll get her sparkle back.
