I had no idea it was so complicated :D

Looking at ordering some of these for when my fancy new saddle comes:

https://www.henryjamessaddlery.co.uk/collections/black-friday/products/calfskin-stirrup-leathers

but I have no idea what size to get. I'm 5ft 6 and my saddle is a GP. I'm long thigh wise but short calf wise (not sure if that matters!!).

I'm guessing 54" but not sure! How do I measure? (no point on current saddle as its a bareback pad and I've had to buy kids ones and make extra holes!

I have 54 inch leathers and they are fine for me at 5ft 4. I have them on a GP saddle and my trainer who is over 6 ft can just about use them but the end bits aren't long enough to go through the keepers on the saddle.

Hope that gives you some idea 😁

I am 5'8'' (though relatively long thigh) and the Henry James 54'' are quite short for me. The excess end bit isn't long enough to fit through the keeper on my saddle and from memory I think the leathers are only about 3 holes from the end, so if anyone else rides your horse or you have particularly long legs then I'd maybe consider sizing up!

My leathers are 145 cm. (about 57 inches) I ride in a GP saddle and am 5 ft 4. I hack in hole 14.
I know most riders (younger and more supple than I am) have longer stirrups for dressage. I am not sure why my leathers have always been this length. My first pair came from our saddler and may be I didnt realise one had a choice.
