My MIL passed away in October and I had the opportunity to select some of her jewellery to keep. Sheila was always a smartly dressed lady, every coat had a brooch attached. I selected few that I thought would make good stock pins but would like an experienced verdict and also if anyone has any ideas of browband to compliment them I would appreciate your help.

Ah that's lovely. I use brooches for stock pins too though I just buy old things on ebay so they aren't sentimental. I like the oval one best, I think you could have a nice browband with crystals and pearls in, that would suit almost any horse. But you could just wear a different one each time :)

I love the oval one, you could wear pearl earrings and it would be easy to find a browband to match, either with pearls or diamante type stones. My MIL died last month and I have also inherited some very pretty pins and brooches so am going through the same process. It's a lovely way to remember your MIL, I'm sure she would be delighted to know they were being worn.

I use a broach of my grans as my stock pin, it does feel nice to put it to good use.

I like them all but the oval one does stand out

What a lovely way to remember your MIL. I’m sure she’d approve of you wearing her brooch as a stock pin, you don’t get much smarter dressing than Dressage! I think the oval pearl is gorgeous and the shamrock for the Irish link with your mare ?

My MIL never got to meet Dolly although she always loved seeing photos and videos of her and hearing how her & Flynn were. Will be lovely to have a piece of her with me when I start entering dressage classes with Dolly.

They are truly beautiful and a lovely way to remember her. Sorry to come over all "elf and safety" but I think I might avoid the ones with stalks to them as, with my luck, I would probably get speared by that if I fell!!

My Mil had a pony so she was quite interested, she used to sit in the courtyard and watch me get Rose ready. The pic is of something she left me, not the prettiest but interesting as I think it may be a Victorian mourning brooch. It's made of jet with tiny seed pearls
Edited because I couldn't post pic!IMG_20200111_184712795.jpg
