Did anyone ride?
I must admit I was hoping my lesson would be cancelled, but we decided to go ahead & I am glad. My waterproofs held up. The Decathlon Kipwarm breeches really got tested, my knees were slightly damp, but given water was running off me, that was amazing.
Despite the gale, Dave was cool & calm & we even managed our first shoulder in, which neither of us have ever done before.

Wow well done you and Dave!! Great effort.

I took Tali a walk to the beach in hand as I haven’t had her out for several weeks and it’s probably been a couple of months since she’s been out by herself. The wind had gotten up a bit by then but it wasn’t raining (sure is now!) I did put her bridle on and wore my helmet and had a wee shot bare back on the way up the hill ?
Tali tried to eat my hair tonight so storm Barra must be having an effect on her (certainly can’t be that my hair resembles hay ??)

Yep rode this am as had my rider come and she's really busy so couldn't cancel. I tend to ride in anything anyway unless it's dangerous ?

Supposed to be going out again tomorrow babysitting a friend's baby warmblood. Dispite what I've said above I won't be sad if it gets cancelled ?

What a star ? Dave is as well as so handsome ?

I did groundwork because Highland not reliable under saddle in the arena, and hacking would have been very stupid given the amount of trees that like to fall over in the park when the wind is above 40. He started off a bit worried, but I was trying out some new training techniques and he settled nicely.

Good plan.

No riding for us (N. Devon), put soggy ponies in the stables where they were doing laps because of the hail on the roof, praying they are sensible overnight!!

Well done on your lesson - sounds very productive despite the weather! I would have done but the sandschool was frozen this morning & it was my only time to ride today. I didn't think hacking in the dark in potential ice was sensible either! I'm hoping for better luck tomorrow ?

We haven't ridden, we are really exposed where we are so after losing countless trees and a stable and a tack shed in the last couple of weeks I thought it best to leave them out today so they can stretch there legs only to receive a call saying horses were missing after one side of perimeter fence had come down (luckily found safe after a few hours searching). Sick to death of this weather now

We certainly couldn't have ridden here, we could hardly stand up in the yard! We did wonder if we should have to bring the horses in overnight because the wind was blowing into the shelter but the rain eventually stopped and the wind died down, just as it was beginning to get dark.
Fingers crossed for a settled night.

I had been away for the night....... ONLY one is an age........ and of course Tuesday am veteran mare was poorly! Vet needed, not colic but fast breathing, high temp and heart rate. Horrid not to be there for her but step- daughter and friend were absolutely solid giving reports and standing by till I reuturned. Luckily good response to meds but waiting to see what happens when meds stop after tonight.
Blood tests results should be available today. Bit of a mystery but maybe just chilled? As RED1 found, our vets are inundated with colic calls. All vital signs good this morning and shouting to get out onto the little bit of grass they are allowed!

Far too gusty here too.

Didn't sleep a wink last night the wind was so loud.

Lots of flooded roads here and we had heavy snow first thing which made dropping my daughter at the bus station in my little car a bit of a challenge!

Turned back to rain now but very heavy and the wind is still howling.

Think it's going to be tomorrow AM before it calms down here.

Hope she's OK bless her. We need a bit of a respite from this weather, think it's been very hard on the veterans.

The wind has come round to the west now, we are set up for that, as that is our prevailing wind. Weather was unpleasant when I got up, with wind and sleet but horses were standing eating in the shelter, dogs very unimpressed with the weather! 'You want me to go out in that?!'

My boy is a bit of a melodramatic llama even in nice weather so decided safer for us both not to ride yesterday. Especially as he's in rehab following surgery, didn't want him leaping around and undoing all our good work! Will cross my fingers I can ride at lunch today between work...am expecting it will be chucking it down but hoping it won't be so windy!
