 another week, another storm. Surely we should be able to bounce them round the globe by NOW

Anyway, who has optimistically made plans?

On Saturday Darcy is off to a new venue to come last in 2 more Prelims ;)
He's got the measure of travelling on the new truck so that's a weight off my mind. Just has to learn to be a bit more polite about standing to be tacked up, now he can see more out of the windows he's forgotten some of his manners!

Same old, same old for Kira, just trying to build up her fitness now as she's doing long enough sessions and they just need to get a bit more intense. Hoping she will be able to start some outings next month, fingers crossed.

And then Darcy is going to do indoor arena bootcamp at my trainer's again next week to try and restore order properly again. it was so helpful at Christmas time so that should help us get it together again. I'll be well practiced at driving the lorry by then!

Have fun all, hopefully the storm won't be too bad.

I was going to a sj clinic Sunday, but have pulled out. Instead I'll hack early tomorrow, then be expecting my new temporary livery to arrive during the morning. If all Fuzzies settle then hack again Saturday.
Sunday..... hmm, no plans now, not with up to 60mph winds forecasted.

Good luck to those competing and stay safe everyone x

Good luck for your comp MP
Lindy I think your idea is the best one if I am honest.
Hope they all settle well TFF (is the HHOer you offered to help out btw - I thought that was a lovely thing to do)
Ours is weather dependent. Hopefully a hack on Saturday (and hopefully a bit less full of beans than last Saturday) ideally round the bridle path for a canter not just stuck to a walk up the estate but if the weather and/or horse are anything like last Saturday it will be a walk up the estate again!
Sunday we have an arena hire with jumps booked for 9am for 3 of us but we are watching the weather and may cancel/postpone but we need to decide by Friday or we will have to pay anyway!
On a non horsey note I have to produce a powerpoint presentation for the 3rd of 5 assignments for my final module of a degree that I am so over right now!

I have a lesson with my classical trainer on Saturday morning which I think will go ahead as it's at my yard so don't need to travel. Dressage Ireland on Sunday morning to try and get my last required qualifying score although there are another 2 shows after this in my region and another 1 show in another region that I can get to if the winds are too high to travel this weekend.

Keeping a very close eye on the forecasts - won't risk travelling in high winds regardless of how much I want my qualification scores!

Short walk hack on Monday then lessons with Pammy Hutton on Tuesday and Wednesday - looking forward to that :D

I was planning on getting on Sick Note Appy for the first time in 2 months so vet can have an update. Will plan that for Sat looking at weather.... I think I'd need a parachute on Sunday & i value my neck.

Good luck to everyone out and about. For once I don't feel like I've missed much with pony off games this winter - even hacking has been a write off with the floods around here

it has been the most annoying winter that I can remember for years. I've barely worn more than a sweatshirt because it's been so warm. But instead of hulking around in 2 million layers we've just had rain and rain and rain. I'm so sick of it :(

Looks to be brutal winds. North scotland/ireland get the worst i think as the centre of the storm tracks by up there.
The south ireland/uk also get a slipstream of weather gliding up.

Thankfully my horses due to having high winds here often, are very good in windy storms now! Theyre calmer than me!
Brendan took down a fair few trees on the farm...ill expect a few more down this weekend.

Be safe everyone.

Today is like a perfect spring day....40% moisture, 8 degrees...birds tweeting, some sun even...very calm. Gonna make the most of it before battening down and hibernating the storm!

I'm supposed to be at a polework clinic on Saturday morning but the venue are debating cancelling due to the storm. A lesson booked on Sunday as well so I guess I'll just have to watch this space with the weather.

Good luck for those competing, hope you don't get blown away.

I was supposed to be attending the local TSR showing clinic but had to change plans due to sick note pony. We've just started cantering again which is great, and he is feeling amazing (something just clicked with the new diet earlier in the week), but due to the weather I'm not sad about missing it! Just concerned as I think all horses will be in on Sunday by the looks of things, which will be his first 'duvet day' since PSSM diagnosis. I could put him out alone for a few hours but I think he will probably spend his time at the gate which isn't exactly productive!

Good luck to all out and about and take care!

Saturday have an arena xc lesson outdoors...... my friends riding for me as I've almost decided to stick to having all 4 feet on the ground nowadays.... (other than last weeks dressage competition... lets just say that the warm up was quite exciting!!). Sunday was hacking on the hills but with heavy rain and gale force winds forecast, it could be a duvet day instead!

I'm of work tomorrow as have some hens to collect at some point. I'm going to start putting the posts in the ground for my schooling area and try and ride B1 tomorrow and saturday and B2 long rein with a bit more 'tack' (if you can call it that) on.
Sunday I have a nice pork joint I'm going to put in the oven while I watch the weather and organise my events calendar for the rest of the year. I like making plans!

Hold on to your hats everyone!

i am supposed to helping my friend who is going c/c schooling on her young horse on sunday.. we will have to see what the storm does as i dont fancy going in very strong winds...

I've entered for dressage & was gonna SJ too at the flexi eventing on Sat
But I have absolutely no intention of going in hideous weather
So I think I'll pay in advance so that I don't feel bad about withdrawing, and play it by ear and see how it seems on Sat am

It's supposed to be ok until lunchtime here....

Fiona

The storm isn’t due to hit my area until the early hours of Sunday, so it looks like I’ll have to go ahead with getting my brave pants on and taking my loan horse to our first competition ?. We’re just going h/c in an unaffiliated prelim so nothing exciting! My threshold target is to stay on, my stretch target is to get him to do some relaxed work at some point ?

I had planned a quiet hack on Sunday but I expect I’ll be hunkering down at home instead! Maybe do some baking in my new oven...

Rose has worked quite hard this week and been a really good girl she's also been fine to bring in, no hysterics. I had a lesson today and she's having her annual vac tomorrow first thing so a day off. All being well, I'll school on Saturday but the weather looks dire for Sunday so I may keep them both in. I've got people coming for lunch so it will also be quite convenient.
Dorsetladette, I've doing a big joint of pork from the little pigggies that lived down the road from me, watched them grow up and they had a lovely life. Yum, yum!
Spottycobby, the TSR clinic I went to last Sunday has really inspired me, so much so I have booked into a Claire Oliver clinic next weekend!
Good luck to everyone who is out and about, don't get blown away!

Just been informed that farmer will be doing long awaited work probably starting saturday, which will involve him maneuvering his massive 12 ton digger right in front of the horse barn!
I reminded him of the storm, he’s not bothered...i told him ‘no’ on sunday....think he’s catholic so sunday is a no-no anyway!
I hope the storm doesnt arrive a few hours earlier and hit bad on Saturday.
Been waiting months for him to be free to do this work and out of all the days to start he chooses the start of a storm!

The horses will need the barn to shelter in....all other places are prevailing wind facing....fingers crossed this storm isnt bad....brendan wasnt as bad as they made it out to be.

I held them once while a 8 ton digger rambled past us....heart in mouth moment! They wanted to bomb out the way and i talked them through it, my god it was knife-edge tho’!
