storm doris

Everything as usual but we have got extra hay out of the barn so we can batten it down a little and I will be making a path round back of stables to lead them in and out so I don't have to open the barn doors in high winds :)

Its coming to us tonight, so the horses will be in and the pony out. If the rain comes on soon I might bring her in a for a few hours though and back out at bedtime (she can't eat hay so next to impossible to keep in all night)..

Then they will go out tomorrow morning, though horses might go in the all weather if its been really bad overnight.

Mine will all do as usual. Ridden ones turned out first thing and retired ones in for the day.
Was planning on riding tomorrow afternoon but if it's just awful tbh I won't.
It's very blustery already, driving my little lorry was fun earlier!

Wind actually really annoys me! As in genuinely annoys the hell out of me :(

Mine tend to live out 24/7 but l tend to bring them in once a week when we've heavy rain just to try to stop the winter field from getting trashed. There's not alot of natural shelter either in that field so it's another reason l like to get them in. But when it's really windy l don't like them in, in case the stable roof came off or a tree fell on them l know it shouldn't be scared but you hear so many horror stories that l'm cautious. l just do an extra check to make sure that the fencing is secure before leaving them for the night.

I'm due the best part of a foot of snow, they will be turfed out first thing as usual but I may soak some extra hay so I can relent and bring them in at lunchtime if its as unrelenting as forecast, there is no natural shelter and I live in a natural wind tunnel, though they can access the shed if need be.

Mine's on livery and the owners have said they want them all in :-( Rode tonight though so at least he's done something, one day won't hurt. Im at work so can't really argue. Hope it passes quickly!

amber warning for snow, get in :D

they are in their byre and may well stay there until friday-ground is horrendous after the rain we had mon/tues so this will make it far worse. They have heaps of space and company so I don't mind them staying in for storms.

Mine are out 24/7 but we put extra hay out in a bale net earlier. If they look really miserable tomorrow I'll bring them in for a few hours' rest. I want snow!

Mine are out 24/7, but the old pony did have one night in earlier this month when it was very cold and wet as he started to shiver slightly (he's rising 24 with cushings so we don't take any chances with him). He stopped within a minute of being in, but little mare went in too to keep him company and err on the side of caution. If they stay warm enough tomorrow, they'll all be out as usual; if he struggles at all, him and coblet will be in for the night with plenty of hay and nice, deep straw beds.

Well it seems mine are the only ones having a duvet day! High winds and rain in the morning are not good for a nutty wb who can injure herself on a flat surface so my 2 stay in (really don't need a Vets bill right now). May get in the field for a couple of hours in the afternoon if it all dies down a bit.
I'm sure you'll all tell me off but it gives me piece of mind I won't find another tendon gone or that she's seriously slipped over (done both before!).

Nugz was brought in last night, and is out today although he did try to take himself back in this morning when he got pelted with driving rain. Got absolutely pi$$ wet through in less than 10 minutes. He's out with a bale of hay and depending on how windy it is, might bring him in as his paddock was heading towards becoming a paddy field.

Getting out of the car was not the easiest already - wind was pushing against the door and I have heavy coupe doors at the best of times. Looked a right muppet :D

Haha! I almost went head first into a wheelbarrow as I bent over to pick up the broom which had blown over and the stable door swung with force into my bum.... very close one 😂

Turned out this morning as usual! So long as he has some friends out he won't mind... Owners in my field do tend to keep in in bad conditions but the field next door will all be turned out.

Hoping it dies down a bit though... He'll want to be in come 4 when I finish work!

Mine are in as well. They go out everyday in most weathers. One day in, waiting for the storm to pass isn't going to hurt them!!

Mine were in their usual spot this morning half way up the field with backs against the wind and NO interest in coming down for breakfast which is just unheard of for the mare! The yard is open, they have haynets on yard and hay in stables with doors open. When they are ready to eat they will come over and eat. I like to let them make the decision on where they want to be in extreme weather and I'm not going to argue with no mucking out, lol ;)

I think I'll keep mine in. Horse really doesn't like high winds, but I wish I had ridden yesterday as the weather turned out not to be so bad as forecast.

Luckily the dodgy tree behind the stable fell over in the autumn or I would have been really worried about that.
