I've noticed over the last few weeks when riding that my left shoulder is tending to sit in front of my right one and that twisting left is more difficult than to the right.
Been wondering why this might be so have been analysing the things I do that might cause this.
This morning whilst working on my PC (laptop) I noticed that my right (mouse hand) is always further back then left hand which I use on the keyboard.
Given that I spend most of my working day like this it makes sense that it would cause my problem.
I have now placed a large strip of tape on my desk behind the mouse to prevent me from taking it futher back than my left hand.

Answering peoples question about why I have this tape on my desk is getting tiresome. :o but it might just straighten me out. :D

As a legal requirement, your company should provide you with a Desk Assessment - this assessment will ask you questions such as do you feel pain in your back, eyes, headaches etc and if you answer yes to anything, they should book appointment with you to meet with a H&S Officer to assess your working environment.

Lol. The stuff I do is usually foolhardy, like ignoring the fact I need a&e & taking painkillers till I have time, or removing a sling to ride. Did teach a non horsey mum to ride so she could hack her daughters pony who had the most awful posture which really hindered her riding. Got her to balance an encyclopedia on her head for weeks when she was sat down or walking round the house. Did work though!

get yourself to the chiropractor! everyone gets out of alignment and dont pay much attention until problems arise.....a good chiropractor will re align you with no pain......you will walk, sit, ride better xx

Work enviroment setup is fine, just me not paying attention to the way I'm sitting. :o

I will be booking an appointment with the person who sorts out our horses (also does people). She is brilliant so might just get my creaky old frame back sort of straight.

The tape is just to prevent me from going crooked again :(

I have a curved spine (S shape) and rotated rib cage, which means I am never sitting straight! My rib cage is rotated so my left side is more forward than my right... nightmare when I wear "shift style" dresses, I got a beautiful one, and had to have the whole right side taken in, as it was hanging off me, and was all gappy around the neck line.
I wear a body protector, just incase, but find this also supports my back position. My only downful is I tip forward, which I think comes from being hunched over a desk 38 hours a week!! :(

For me I am really strongly right handed, I do absolutely everything with my right hand so when I ride I have a tendancy to be too strong with my right hand...
It also doesn't help that I work at a polo yard and when exercising the horses I always hold (both obviously) reins in my right hand which only encourages me to be too right handed when riding 'properly' :( No idea how to fix this though, other than just consciously relax my right hand?

After I broke my ribs due to huge lack of muscle on my right hand side as I broke the 4 last ribs on the right in 6 places I sat completely to the left and collapsed through the right in order to be 'balanced' on days when my back is particularly bad I find myself sitting like this again :/
