Stressed out gelding

Glad to hear you're getting somewhere. My old girl is going the same way... she wanders around her paddock all day now, waiting to come in. Her buddy has her head down grazing from the moment I turn them out, until I come back to bring in and the other horses around are settled.
Our grazing is split into small paddocks and I moved down one to give her some fresh grazing (literally moved 100m down the field..) thought that might help her to settle but she's worn a track along the fence line where she paces up and down.

The way I look at it, at least she's stretching her legs. She's got a tummy full of hay and looks bright & cheerful so I'm not going to freak out over it just yet :)
 
Our yard is the same. Split into smaller paddocks. It's all lovely post and rail fencing which he likes to break by barging the fence. He has started a new trick of biting me when I take too long to bring him in. Little monster! (Not the name he was called when he bit me today)!!!

If he was happy out then why not live him out 24/7? Is he the only one coming in or are his field buddies coming in at the same time too? Has he got hay outside too and do you feed him when he comes in? He might just be pacing about desperate for his haynet / feed waiting for him in his stable (as opposed to the stable itself)?
 
He is only out with one other horse. He is too fine to be wintered out. He gets breakfast and tea with a haybar full of haylage. I don't feed him as soon as he is brought in. He is tied up groomed then ridden or lunged. I don't think it's an expectation of food that drives his want to come in. I increased his breakfast and he seems to be more settled but he is never very far away from the gate when he is grazing

He has been clipped and in a medium weight rug but is coming in dripping with sweat. I put him back in his light weight and today again dripping with sweat. I am at my wits end worrying about him being unhappy. He didn't do it when I first bought him and he was stabled overnight. Any ideas?

Tried to get him going this week but he is completely wired! Exploding on the lunge and under saddle. All hard feed has been stopped and he is a different horse. Not at the gate at all and chilled out grazing. Fizzy was an understatement
