Struggling to access HHF on computers ?

Can't get on it on either my work laptop or personal laptop - I can only access it on my iPhone. Any ideas as to why and how I can sort it ?

Have the work and home devices recently been updated? Unlikely they have both had the same updates but something has changed so the question is what? I assume you could access from both these devices before? There has been a Windows update recently which could have been applied to both devices but my laptop is working fine. What OS are they? If very old could be HHF won't work with them and its the HHF that has changed?

"Can't get on it" is a bit vague... What happens when you follow this link to the forum?
For example,
  • do you see the login prompt, and are you able to log in?
  • do you get an error message, such as "404, file not found"?
  • does your browser patiently try to connect, and give up after a while with a message such as "server not found" or "could not connect to the server"?

Also, we need to know if you can browse other web sites (try BBC News), which operating system you have, and if you can open a terminal window or command prompt on your computers.

What will this tell us other than the level of access she has on the device? And so what subsequent tests can be done?

Run things like host, dig, ping, nslookup and traceroute.

In the meantime, this is a fairly short and useful bit of information.

Mainframes! That takes me back to days of work experience from school, working on the IBM System/360 at the Whitbread Brewery doing a bit of JCL, cleaning the tape drives and the band printers... CICS...

I dropped out of IT for almost twenty years before going back in as a tech writer and doing a bit of networking mostly just to get my household set up.

I only access HHF on my phone, but is becoming so difficult lately with the poll/question at the bottom of every page, playing videos, and the pop up full screen adverts, I even got taken to fb for a survey from here yesterday.

I can only use at home on wifi or it takes too long to load each page and half the time I give up with the red blobby things loading

Install AdBlock and add a filter to get rid of anything from Apester, and you shouldn't see those polls anymore and your pages should load more quickly.
