Stupidity?

I've re-read though and hope I didn't come over as stroppy. I didn't mean to sound stroppy but maybe I'm not in the best of moods this evening and will quietly slink off to bed LOL!

Lol you didnt come across as stroppy, but you were a bit dismissive of my post, youre right it may be a discussion for a different thread, i have no big issues either way but from your reply i think you might have. youre entitled to your opinion and i did say in my post i wasnt sure if i was right.

^^This^^
really is very stupid especiallly the danger aspect riding on the roads as you've described but as for the rest, why does it concern you so much what this livery does?
there are twits on every yard its best to just let them get on with it or it will drive you mad

Agree with both the posters here.
If it isn't your yard, it isn't really any of your business, even if it is incredibly stupid.
If I worried about every stupid thing that other liveries at the yard I'm at, did, well, I'd never get any sleep.
They probably feel the same about me ! :D
Kx

I would just let the laws on natural selection take their course tbh and hope she has not bred any more retards in the meantime :)

Stupid stupid stupid people

Are you sure you weren't just feeling the tiniest weeniest fluffy bunnyishness when you wrote that? I LOVE IT!

Got to the yard this morning and it seems that another livery has already spoke to her about it and it got a bit heated! Will wait and see what happens when yo back on weds

The 'trainer' may not actually be teaching Parelli in the sense that Parelli teaches people to work with horses. She may be simply trying to educate the horse using her current understanding of PNH.

Reporting her to Parelli will serve no purpose. They are not a police force. Perhaps we have discovered another downside to PNH...you have to seek permission before you can help a friend.

The world is full of idiots who put themselves and their horses at risk on the public highway. Most days I see a local woman walking her horse as if it is a dog, allowing it to graze the roadsides, with its @rse sticking into the road, while she speaks/texts on her mobile phone. No Hi-viz/hat/gloves, and she seldom acknowledges passing drivers who have had to take responsibility for her life as well as their own when they encounter her.

Someone told me the police had been informed of this, but she is still at it.

Passing a proficiency test to take a horse on the road, and to wear Hi-viz/safety gear, and to pay insurance, should be mandatory, in my view. Only then could other road users be expected to take seriously the rights of equestrian users, and the real need for public information broadcasting, such as those for motorcyclists and drink drivers, could be met.

That post has quite infuriated me. I have a horse who is not very good on his own. I plaster him and myself in flourescent, I always tell someone where I am going, my route and when I expect to be back and I am always courteous to other road users. I wear a proper riding hat with the latest safety tags, and proper boots and chaps.

That rider who rides without a hat in flip flops with no saddle, bridle or flourescent is a danger to herself and her horse. Sad thing is that when her horse invariably gets killed by a driver she will blame it on her horse and not herself.

I was not talking about helping a friend. I meant that if this trainer is actually out selling her services as someone who teaches Parelli, then she should be dealt with. It would be like someone trading as being BHS qualified when they were not.

I agree that nobody can or should get involved when a friend helps another friend and they are both idiots. I think a YO could be justfied in getting involved if it happens on their premises, but once they are out the gate then it's nothing to do with anyone else. (Unless another mutual friend felt they should voice some friendly concern).

Couldn't read this without thinking of a friend who feeds her dogs a natural 'BARF' diet and carries a shovel and plastic bags in her car. When she sees some fresh looking roadkill she stops and scrapes it up (yuk). A horse and rider would keep her freezer well stocked for a while....

The last time I looked it wasn't necessary to undergo an initiation ceremony before purchasing Parelli paraphernalia. So there's nothing to suggest that this person is trading under the Parelli auspices. I have a Mark Todd saddle cloth, it doesn't mean we're engaged (more's the pity).
The thing is you seem pretty convinced that the trainer doesn't know their stuff. This implies that you do. So why don't you all stop waiting for "an accident", share your knowledge and spread a little happiness (then you could stop stalking her)

~snorts!~

:D

Other livery has had a word, basically mentioned all what has been said, it's hardly stalking when she's riding on the one road to the yard which we all have to go along is it, can't help but see her!!

Forgot to add, as I was leaving to
go home the horse owner was riding in the school, no flip flops or carrot stick in sight....yet, maybe what other livery said has had an effect

If I were you, I'd be careful about being helpful.
I've fallen into that trap once again and found myself out of favour and me and my horse out on our ears.
I have seen appalling stupidity, ignorance of horses needs, and acts verging on cruelty and whilst I keep my mouth shut and blinkers on most of the time, I happened to let someone know, tactfully I might add, about my feelings on the accident waiting to happen and next day I was asked to leave the yard.
Some people just don't see risks like most of us do and others just don't care so I wouldn't rock the boat. They will think you are causing trouble, and all the idiots will back them up, so beware.
I know it is very hard to keep quiet, so just hope that the worst doesn't happen for the horse's sake, they usually get away with it - most of the time.
