After a gastroscope in November, my Welsh Cob was diagnosed wth gastric ulcers. He had a course of gastroguard for 2 months (during which he was re-scoped and ulcers had gone). Then was re-scoped 3 weeks after finishing the gastroguard and ulcers had reappeared. His management is (and always was) what you'd do to reduce the risk of ulcers anyway. (Lives out 24/7- although he's brought in at night this winter since he was poorly in Nov- good doer so only gets hay and a lo-cal balancer). He's now on another 2 month course of gastroguard after which the vet has suggested the possibility of putting him onto 'Succeed' which is apparently a 'digestive conditioning programme' and is supposed to work on the whole digestive system as a 'buffer'. Does anyone have any experience of it and does it work? If not, what else are people using as preventatives for gastric ulcers?
