Was it a Nugent trailer. That’s for livestock and horses.
It was definitely a Rice Farmers Hunt trailer 🙂. We were upgrading from a Rice Eventer, and as a teen I was run around in an old all wooden build Farmers Hunt. Love Rice trailers.

The Farmers Hunt also suitable for cattle was a lovely trailer in good nick and set up for horses, but it still had the old ‘get out of the tow vehicle to put a pin in to disable the brakes’ reverse system, so we passed on it in favour of a less sturdy Rice Europa with auto reverse.

This word is in my brain but is just out of reach, arrgh 🙈

Next door, who DID sometimes use his RFH to take cattle, always called it “t’ trailer”....
I’ll ask his daughter if she remembers, bound to have been new when they bought it from Rice because all their stuff was.
Definitely single tier, plenty of room for two heavies, double floor, needs a Landrover to pull ( or Range Rover when they got invented!)
She understood was simply a ‘Rice Farmers’ Hunt’, but if her mum remembers any more, will update - sorry!

Buffalo?

I had a rice beuafort 60, really lovely trailer just very heavy! Horses always travelled well in it. I towed it with a fourtrack - there's not many modern family SUV's that would tow a Rice these days! I sold mine to a couple who converted it into a catering trailer!

Google tells me there was a Rice Beaufort Farmers Hunt - wonder what the difference was between that and the Rice Farmers Hunt - guessing front or rear load?

Are we sure it was cattle related, rather than perhaps something they did to the metal work?

It was externally a standard looking Rice Farmers Hunt rear unload horse trailer, which were very commonly seen horse trailers up to about the early 80s, but with the extra reinforced sides needed for cattle transport. It wasn’t a one off conversion, it was a known variation.

The Rice Beaufort horse trailer was of similar really strong build quality but was front unload.

They were very heavy trailers. Horses travelled very well in them.

Was just wondering whether that reinforcement was the bit they mentioned in the additional word, rather than cattle related. So instead of Rice Farmers Hunt Moo-Moo, it was something like Rice Farmers Hunt Galvanized (not the right word but only metal related process I can think gone 9pm 😂)
