At my previous yard I took some cats from Cats Protection League .I have now moved and the people taking over the place begged me to leave the cats .They had been with me or 3 years and were happy and settled so I agreed and told them they needed to feed them a little once a day and let CPL know they are untouchables and I felt it was best for them to stay settled.
I moved nearly 300 miles away. I have now been contacted by a friend who tells me the new owners say they have to 'earn their keep' and are not feeding them.Consequently the cats are now begging around neighbours houses and crossing the road to do so. I e-mailed CPL to ask if they could do a home visit to check on the welfare of these cats and they say that they can do nothing have no jurisdiction and can't contact the new owners the cats 'belong to them now!
I thought that these carities retained ownership of the animals they rehomed .These cats will get killed on the road ,be hungry in the winter and be chased off by the other houses .
I am really surprised.
Please don't say contact the new owners as do to reasons I won't go into I am not prepared to do this.
