Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice about barrier super plus fly repellent. I e-mailed the company to ask what all the ingredients are and they told me it contains the active ingredient citriodiol and avocado. I e-mailed back to see if they could tell me all the ingredients but they said they don't give out all the ingredients and are not required to do so (they are only required to give their active ingredient). Does anyone know if it is usual that fly repellents for horses don't list all their ingredients? I am slightly worried about this because although this is meant to be a non-toxic product suitable for organic farming systems I wonder if they are able to include such things as deet oil which I wouldn't want to use. If deet oil would be an active ingredient then it would be listed but does anyone know if deet oil (or other types of oils) are active or inactive ingredients. If anyone has fly repellent which they know uses deet oil would you mind looking for me if it is listed on the bottle as an active ingredient or inactive or not listed at all?
I have come across a product for humans called mosi-guard from www.herbal-direct.com. The active ingredient in this is also citriodiol so I was thinking of trying this instead if they are able to tell me all the ingredients. As it is a human product I am assuming that they would have to list all the ingredients. Has anyone used mosi-guard and found it to be effective?
I have heard the super plus fly repellent is very good and maybe I am overworrying because I know it is meant to be natural etc (I want a chemical free fly repellent) but I think some 'natural' ingredients are not necessarily good and don't know if deet oil or other things like this are classed as natural and therefore could be added to this product without being listed.
If anyone is able to give me their thoughts or advice I would be very grateful!
Thanks very much.
