My boy is on box rest for the foreseeable future after a nasty accident out in the field. He has lots of muscle damage to his hind leg, running from the hock up the inside of his thigh. He has been on box rest for 6 weeks and is on 1 Danilon a day to keep him comfy, he is being walked out in hand for 15 minutes every day just to keep him from seizing up. If there isn't improvement in the next couple of weeks we will be going down the scanning route.
Obviously healing has to start from the inside so I was wondering if anyone could recommend feed stuffs/supplements that promote muscle/ligament repair?
He is a chunky cob type so has some haylage every day and has his danilon in a handful of basic coarse mix mixed with apple chaff. He has lost a bit of condition on box rest but he was a bit chunky so is just right now. Someone has recommended Super Codlivine so I'm going to get some of that tomorrow, which also ties in with the vets recommendation of getting something with vitamin E in it. Any ideas for feeding or experience of anything that may help would be appreciated.
