After our eventing exploits it was time to get our head back in the game with regionals only two weeks away . However this is what greeted me in the morning:

A LOT of shampoo later and we had an improvement :D

So off we popped to a new venue for us to see what she could do with the regional test. The warm up was pretty terrifying, being indoor and had horse eating poop scoopers lying around in suspicious corners :o. However with a bit of pony club style insisting that she had to move forward off my leg, we had improvement as long as we did not go near the scary bits :D. Into the test and we came face to face with something much akin to Topaz's arch nemesis... a caravan looking object over the fence *shudder* :o, however Topaz let me pat her, kick her on and say ignore it it's fine I promise! Unbelievably chuffed with how grown up she was for a new place! I left the trot work a bit under-powered to try and preserve the softness which I was pleased with. We need to work on the speed of movements coming up as the half 20m, to half 10m circles, to leg yields need to be much smoother for regionals. Also managed a wrong lead in the walk canter transition, doh, she was peering out of the ring and muddled the transition and then popped onto the wrong lead :o, so stronger insisting on my part of total focus on the rider, not the external distractions is needed :D. This caused a bit of tension in the canter so not our best work, and the simple changes were a bit abrupt but overall I was quite pleased with her :).

Video if you can see it on the facebook blog:

Ended up with 64% which is a bit of a meh score for an inconsistent test, but it has given me lots to focus on and we have another ride through planned next weekend so a worthwhile outing! Also managed 2nd place in my section (yes the mega silver section ) :D.

Back out for a bash at M69, this time the warm up was a bit manic so we boiled over a bit, but never mind it's all good experiences! The test was seriously wobbly :o, we seemed a touch rusty at this half pass idea, which I think was just because of residual tension from the warm up. The canter was just hard work in general bless her, but she did opt to listen and not add the flying changes into our counter canter :D. Walk pirouettes were also a bit dodge :o, so massively pleased with 63% and another second placing, (this time beating the silver scores ), lots to gain in confidence in the movements before the area festival season starts!

So tired after all this poncing!

So canter bootcamp is on again, lets see if we can polish ourselves up a bit :) for next week and then regionals! Also wore my new mega bargain Konig boots which I won for £60 on Ebay :D, and very pleased with them but they need to drop faster  no pain no gain right :D.

I'm not going to let Daisy see the mud pack look in case she gets any ideas 😱

Well done it all sounds a lot more fun than I envision dressage should be :D

I haven't worn my new boots to ride. I can hardly walk in them never mind ride. Have you got heel risers for yours? Mine are OK lengthwise surprisingly they are just mega tight everywhere else. I did try the next size up which was baggy so I am hoping listening to the rep and getting these ones to allow for the stretch was the right thing to do!

No never let her see, no horse should enjoy mud this much :D.

Ah it is good fun, training the power and lightness is fabulous, but jumping is still the best fun ;).

Boots are surprisingly (for second hand not made for me) a perfect width for my fat legs :D, but due to the short nature of said legs I have two sets of heel risers in :o, they are also a touch big on the foot (I knew they would be) but are good to ride in! The plan is to save up for made to measure ones, but these are a perfect stop gap :), though with a front zip I cannot gain any relief until they drop more!

Sounds like a really positive outing!

I love your hat and breeches! :O

FW I have a set of heel risers in my tredsteps but i may have to put a second pair in as the are collapsing quite alot around my foot! but they sre super soft and comfortable but i know how you feel as with my last pair i had to get them slightly tighter to begin with and they did eventually soften up but i found the only way to break them in properly was to acctually ride in them as painful as it was (and i still have the scars to prove it) they were then super comfortable and moulded to my legs beautifully!

Thanks :), hat is a CO one and breeches are Covalliero ones and are the comfiest breeches ever!

Oof you boot pain sounds worse than mine , just back of knee bruises here!

I also love your hat and breeches - I almost bought a similar hat a few months ago but they didn't have my size in stock :mad3:

Great report, well done, and seeing that mud-covered monster first thing in the morning must have made your heart sink :D

Would really recommend both, I'm sad that my hat doesn't have a leather harness but for the price it's lovely, but love my breeches loads! Lovely and stretchy and the grey seat is flattering and hides the dirt :D.

Well in honesty I have spotted she was a little muddy the night before so gave myself extra time for bathing, but still it was impressive even by Topaz's normal standards!

I've not got risers in mine I'm proper hardcore :D :(

To be honest I've got enough aches and pains getting back in the saddle with a protracted time off, without adding the new boots to the list at the moment so will wear them in the house for a while and then some day get brave enough to ride in them. :D

No more comments? I think I may sack these dressage reports off and just post the exciting jumping ones ;)...

She looks lovely (I know your pain well when it comes to finding your previously quite clean horse very muddy - mine is disgusting a lot of the time ...) and well done on your scores! Good luck at the regional's :)

I'm another admirer of your hat. I got the faux leather look CO hat, but if I knew it came in sparkles I may have been swayed otherwise :D

I'm not sure Daisy is ever going agree that lightness is a thing she believes in. Plus I don't have the skill set to train it!

Mental, I have bruises even with two in  no wonder you don't want to ride in them yet :D.

We joke that she's actually grey and we've never got her clean enough to tell :D. We'll be making the numbers up at regionals but I'm hoping we can improve on our score (current high of 64% at a regional event).

Ah see you went for the 'spensive option, this is the kids CO hat which was about £90, love the leather look ones but couldn't afford one at the time! You could always add some sparkles on yourself?

Ah it can come, Topaz with her build shouldn't be as light as she is on her feet but we're getting there. Lots of lessons and changing the way I ride has made a big difference, but it can be hard if the horse doesn't agree :).

Thanks guys for the more replies :o.

Ahh, I see - that explains it! I've got a *really* awkward headshape & many, many hats don't fit including CO children hat's ...! It was a present from my Mum, I don't think she was thrilled to learn so few hats fitted & the one's that did were naturally expensive.

*Off to Google adult sized sparkly hats*

Ah what a shame or not, the leather ones are beautiful! Now I'm wondering if I tell the parents only those ones will fit me whether they will buy me one :D.

I think One K hats do a glitter one? They look like gatehouse hats to me but with glitter!

Great report, and well done on the results!

I think I'd have cried at having to wash that amount of mud off before a comp, could be worse though, she could be grey aagghh!!

Where did you get your breeches from? I have had a quick google and am struggling to find the same ones you have.

Thanks, results were ok but I know there's more in the tank! we are used to that amount of mud with this one, we've seen her pawing in puddles to make it extra muddy and then rolling, she is the ultimate mud monster :o.

They were advertised on facebook but not seen them else where sorry :(.

Ah well done. :D

Those are good scores, considering you say you had a few wobbles. It's a solid start... :)

And oh my god, that mud! She looks rather displeased with the idea of having to be clean in that first pic. ;)

Ah thank you :), hopefully we can build on it this weekend and be in a good place for regionals the week after!

She hates being clean ;) and is now the same colour as the first picture :o, mum wants to rug her again as otherwise she can't ride as the mud is still wet ...

Oh don't be so needy :p

I think it's difficult with replying to reports, I often find it hard to think of anything other than the "well done, lovely horse" comments when reading a report by someone who's obviously very competent, and who hasn't had any major disasters or overcome any obstacles on the day; and then I feel I'm just being banal. Please don't stop writing them :)

Lol no don't stop. I saw your results on fb and STILL after 3 months have no Internet at home so always on my phone which is a pita on hho. Hopefully return to normal service soon, openreach permitting grrrr . Grear results. .. onwards to regionals :D

Another stonking report AH!
I do enjoy them very much :) I love how fun is always the name of the game with you. You're too modest, you're doing really flipping well! Would you like another mad carthorse to play dressage with? She jumps too!

*blushes*

Sorry, but you've made my month with 'obviously very competent' do you mean me or other peoples reports :o.

Sorry for being daft, I like comments and did wonder if anyone would comment on the videos as although they aren't the best quality they show our weaknesses quite well! I maintain jumping is still more exciting .

God feel mega daft now, was being silly really! No internet sucks hope you get that sorted asap!

I'm surprisingly excited about regionals despite having even less chance of a top ten finish :o.

We have to laugh or you know, cry ... Topaz has taught us well that keeping things fun is much more satisfying than being too serious about it all.

Well I do have baby horse as well, but what's one more send her over ;).

Oh, yeah I was talking about other people's reports, I always reply to yours

Not being daft at all, it can be disheartening when you write a long report and don't get much feedback, and yes jumping ones do tend to be more exciting. I'm about to do a long report of my boring dressage day today so you'd better comment on that :wink3:

Promise I will
Phew glad you didn't mean me I cannot be competent, I frequently fasten one side of my noseband over the cheek piece :o.
