I've been up and brought the horse in already.

Showered and had my breakfast, time to get ready for work now...thinking its gonna be another busy day, half term N all! Shame I have to work with my boss as well

Shame about the weekend weather as was hoping to get my mare out for a hack with a nanny tomorrow and can't ride today as off to Trafford Christmas shopping.
This half-term hol has gone fast!

Hi to the newcomers

I had a fab ride out yesterday and my nappy neddy led another horse out with only one naughty moment (which naturally was in the middle of a major road). I'm so proud of her!

Not riding today but desperately hoping it's not true about the weather this weekend as I wanna go out again sat and sun mornings, it's becoming routine now, me and some friends going out for lovely long hacks at the weekend.

Just had another lok at forecast, actually it's sunny intervals for sat, but heavy rain for sun. And that's in Newcastle, not sure about where you are, but if you give me an area I can look for you

TBC it'll best be riding given the weekend's weather I think - Mrs M not sure bout where you live exactly but you might get away with it. Hope your interviews go well.

Sun is shining here, will have to go into office in a bit (grrr for RM being on strike and hoorah for our local boys who don't seem to be) then getting in No1 LGW who is Little Mud Welshie at the moment, for a thorough clean up as daughter has a lesson on her this afternoon. Will leave daughter to it, that'll keep her occupied for 2-3 hours (pony has patience of a saint, but does get rewarded with nice hay and a fair bit of in hand grazing on lush grass, or or back garden to strim for us - usually in skinny pony paddock) I will still have to nag her to tack up because RI is due to arrive.

I ache today, legs, arms, back, tummy (do you use every muscle riding or something?) Think a 3 hour 'picnic ride' hack with friend and daughters was overdoing it for me. Was great fun though, we were on the Engelfield Estate just west of Reading, and there was a great gallop alongside this little grass airstrip parallel to the A4. Was so much fun the girls wanted to turn around and race back the other way - so we did! Was lovely being out and about with all the trees in pretty colours, pheasants shooting out and partridges scuttling everywhere, didn't see the deer today but usually do. Horses are so used to the bird activity etc so they don't jump at bird activity, but Mulligan (ancient Irish cob, loves his hacks) only pretends to be scared of the cows ie if they're in a field behind a fence eyes on stalks go sidewards into opposite hedge (so was prepared for it) whereas if going through the cow field to canter once past the cows then they're perfectly OK even if less than 10 ft away as the canter thought takes priority! I am so much better in canter now, much less like a sack of potatoes but am sure nowhere near as good as you lot, really need to do some lessons. (Hadn't ridden for 25 years before the summer holidays, just been for an hour's hack once a week since for those needing an update)

The weathers going to be poo? Boo. I only get to hack Ted out at the weekend - he won't be happy!!

I'm hoping that Ted's leg is going to be better today - I really don't want to be getting the vet out!

Millie went cubbing for the first time yesterday and was a little star

Little Jockey was very, very pleased with her and found it a HUGE novelty to have breaks when out with the hounds, so much so that she has now decided to take Millie to the opening meet tomorrow instead of her own pony! Once again Millie has made me a very proud mummy

then she wouldnt come forward again!!(stubborn moose) in the end and just kept walking back with her (lead just reached) til we were other side of pen and then came the cow-kicking and snorting!

in the end i did manage to rub them on her shoulder and back a little so left it there

Good morning!

Have been good today, had ridden and mucked out by 8.30, poor pony didn't quite know what had hit her!

Nephews have arrived so off to the zoo in a minute! Hunter trial tomorrow!!
 
Good progress ldlp, why are things always scarier on one side than the other! You'll get there eventually

Good luck tomorrow fihunt, and enjoy the zoo, don't try to steal a zebra!

I think i've done very well this week as I have been up at 6am every morning this week and it's great as I can get to yard by 7am and get mucking out, haynets etc done so when I finish work I only have to catch and feed, brill! Though I'm totally knackered today, I thought I'd be dead about now, so improvement! Yippee! Hope I get used to it soon though, I can't spend every friday feeling this wiped out. Urgh
 
I made it baack!! No idea what the time is over there, its 6.34 in the morning here so it seems like I've still not fully adjusted to holiday-lazy mode!!

Off to get some breakfast in a mo, you should see the size of what they have!! Mmm, lots to choose from

Have seen a fair few cobs that do the carriage rides around the city. When i see them I have to hold my breath as they're right in there with all the mad taxi's / drivers etc. When were on the movie tour yesterday the bus came within a hair-length of this one little horse . I had to tell myself to de-horse for a minute!

Aw! I'd be terrible too. I'd wanna groom them and feed them etc. Hope they're well looked after though. It's amazing isn't it, mine can't even look at her reflection in a car without spooking, yet these are in and out of the mad traffic all day.

If my saddle squeaks should I oil it? And am I right in thinking I can oil everywhere but the seat? What about the outside of the saddle flaps? Don't wanna get back from a ride with oil all over my butt cheeks and legs!

afternoon all just a flying visist to say high as now of to see toby as he took ill today so not getting dicharged till monday at the earliest never mind. then after that i need to quickly feed horses as in early as weather is terrible. got a wedding reception tonight and i have hgurt my back so should be fun catch you all later
