I mean, don't get a sh*tland, well, do if you really must, but be warned!!!

They are sometimes, more work than a larger horse/pony. Need very very little, so juggling paddocks becomes a nightmare, and are quite clever and stubborn little ****s!!!

Having said all that....I wouldn't be without ours, who is cheeky, kind, trusting, and a real sweetheart, when he wants to be!!!

evening all...

well, my life is a never-ending soap opera (really, it practically is...)... the latest installment being I HAVE SWINE FRIGGING FLU

yup, so, in the last two weeks, i have moved house, fenced the land and put up stables, had a baby (c-section), had a problem with my stitches (had to be reopened to have them taken out...), had an infection in my stitches and got swine flu. sitting here with temp of 103, dripping with sweat (yum). can't take tamiflu as i'm breastfeeding.

bah, what a total pain up the bottom... (not literally, i have nothing wrong with that area...yet).

but, the good news of the day is my OH has picked up the stable matting so horses can come in at night from tomorrow. whoopee! they need to get handled again, they're getting a bit wild...

Paddock swapping shouldnt be a problem here as the front field has been set aside as a sort of "starvation " area in the spring, whereas the back field is larger for winter. As the fields arent huge huge, I need something that wont eat loads so that Darcy can have extra in winter etc to keep his grass mumps away

The only real issue would be whether Darcy was too playful for them, being they're so small??

DL - Little Izzy No Legs is adorable as well as being very naughty!!

Electric fence poses no problems for a shitalnd in winter when they are fluffy - just don't feel it through their coats........need at least one substantial post/tree etc etc in field to scratch bum on or will just push it over.....and will give you a cuddle if pissed off enough!! Other then that just adorable.............

f_s - if you lived nearer or i was over by you again I would get them done for you! Our local bloke is great and can sometimes do them the same day! Let me know if you don't have any luck and you can post them to me and I'll get them done.

Evening peeps. Well done to everybody who's done good things today. Too many of you to mention, it's been a day of achievement! Hope you feel better soon Clips.

I chickened out of the HT. Walked the course this morning and it was lovely, only one scary fence

(a new skinny thing that looked like a mounting block, with brush on top of it!) but it was peeing down and in the time it took to walk it I saw two ponies in the minimus go a over t just cantering down a hill. I was taking my friend's horse and he's not too clever on his feet and doesn't have stud holes so decided to be sensible and give it a miss. I'd never have forgiven myself if I broke him for her while she's got a broken ankle. After what happened at your HT S_V I'm glad I didn't do it.

At least the dog got a good walk round the course. She was drenched when we got back and stank so she had a shower. I then sat in front of the telly watching the rugby all afternoon.

Had a lovely 10 minute hack on Archie this evening, totally sound and really walking out. Clearly the 3 months he had off though was during hedge monster breeding season. As it was his first time out though and he was on his own, I'll forgive him.
