Horse nearly tried to kill me last night by deciding that stopping half way over fences was a good idea....going to sit and ponder about it today...hmmm

Well, I have my eye on a bridle for Horlicks on fleabay! £7.00 so far, and runs out tonight!! Wish me luck!!

I know she's not actually mine, but she derserves a new flashy bridle. Her's is manky, and made up of lots of different bridles, plus I am doing Dressage on her in a month and she needs to look her best!!

G'day y'all. I got up early (after five hours sleep - eek!), went for a walk (my get-fit-kick), went to the neds, was all done by eleven, but then got slightly sidetracked by a visiting friend (which was lovely and a good natter was had). Home by five past twelve though! Have had lunch, about to have a quick dunk, then it's onto the bank and the website and the software and some reading up for tomorrow...

Have got to get rid of my discovery and I am trying out a suzuki vitara 2.0L diesel short wheel base

oh it seems so small and low, does anyone know anything about this model.
 
I had a suzuki vitara but it was a long wheel base. Nice car, but I found I couldn't tow with mine ( have a 510 Ifor, and with two large horses would have been over the weight).

2.0L won't tow too much, remembering a trailer weighs about 900kgs, then add on horse/s.

Did like mine though, never had any problems with it and it was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the Japanese 4X4's seem to be more reliable.

f_s - unless they list your house they can't impose any restrictions on what you can and can't do! In the event of alterations that need planning permission they maybe able to ask for things to be 'in keeping' but thats about it.

samstar - what I know about cars you could write on the back of a postage stamp with a large wax crayon!!

Samstar - I would think you'd be at almost the weight limit with one horse or pony. I found that they are much lower as well, and it was a bit weird having this huge horse trailer behind me!!!

Ask the garage what the towing capacity is, they'll look at you gone out!! Make them read the details, and it's towing capacity you want, not literage!!!

I switched to a 3L Terrano, but then I have to tow two big horses. I do think that the suzuki's don't hold their prices quite as well either, so be aware of that.

It's your choice, and if you like it that's great, but I think you might find it a bit odd after a disco, and without much ummph!!! If you see what I mean!!

Oh B***ger!!!! It'll pull one horse, but you'll have to take it easy. Is there nothing else you would like or consider?

How about a SWB Terrano 2.8 it would give you more power and towing capacity!!

I've got two interviews! One tomorrow morning (oh panic, panic, panic) and one next Wednesday. Both have pluses etc., but basically I'll take whatever is offered to me (always supposing something is!)

OH says that a suzuki is not the best for towing, better off with a Diahatsu 4 track independent, or a SWB Nissan Terrano either 2.7 or 3L which will both do the job and give you towing to spare!!!

A 2000 independant is about £3000 - £4000.

Alternatively, there is the SWB misibushi shogun, or a landcruiser depending on how much money you have to spend.

Ooh, while your on the topic of towing . Can i rack your brains?

I'm hiring a horse box for 2 weeks next thursday to take me and a friends pony to horse camp. The only problem being that the only tow-vehicle we've managed to get atm is my Dads' renault traffic turbo. Its a 1.9 with a tow capacity of 2000 kilos. What do you reckon? I'm doubtful for some reason. The woman we're hiring it off reckons she has one and she pulls her two clydes around in it

Hehe!! I'm like with cars - but for towing info I ask my farrier he is my 4x4 guru!!

samstar - check out autotrader online as there Fourtraks on there starting at about 1.5k - will tow 2 big horses and a trailer no probs and very reliable. Its what I will be looking at as both of mine are big lumps and I want to know I can can tow two safely - even if usually its only one.

Well my lesson went really well - we managed most of it in an outline!!!

I'll ask OH to be sure, but honestly I have a 510 (a new one) and it's about 900 kgs! Don't know, but the older ones I think were even heavier!

With two of my big ones the trailer + horses would weigh 2200kgs!!! That's way over what a car could tow!

I asked every garage when I was buying my 4X4 and you would be shocked at how little they knew!!

Thanks, I had a feeling it'd be way too much. I've been looking at 4X4 hire but the prices are sky high. Eeesh. Theres loads of people on the farm with 4X4's but its just asking them :s

I'm very veeery against using it
