SWEET FA.........Tuesday

so do you think i would be ok to ride her? i weigh 9 stones and i think she is 11hh
confused.gif

also what would you do with her?
confused.gif
i was just thinking to get her out quick brush, then put bridle on and saddle and walk her around or should i start by trying to lunge her?

What sort of build is she ldlp? I have to admit I would be uncomfortable riding an 11hher, and I'm 9 stone but then I'm 5"9 and often wrong!

RG she looks fab now! Much better weight than before

anyway...DL very jealous about Kevins immanent arrival and i hope Darcy's footiness is nothing major

I'm envious... 9 stone and 5"9.. I'm over 10 and only 5"5 ish! Makes me feel like I should definately be under 10 now! haha
Well I have no idea what to do tonight, due to finishing watching Merlin and having done all my work. Was looking at prices for show jumps, which are really expensive, wondering if its possible and cheaper to build your own now?
smile.gif

Thankies DL - I think I'll look into that

ldlp - how long ago was she last ridden? I would lunge her first, not for too long, perhaps fifteen mins max, and only in walk, with a small trot on both reins at the end. Do this for the next week, then add small amounts of canter and up the session to 20-25 mins.

After a week of that, I'd sit on her, again, only for about 20 mins, mainly in walk. The idea being that you bring her back into some form of fitness on the lunge, before she has to take a rider on her back. Gradually increase the work and time, with you riding her.

At nine stone, I don't think it will be a problem, as long as she can carry you happily, and it's not for hours on end, and she has some fittness, then you should be ok

RG - I think Roo's clip looks lovely, very smart!!

I think I agree with what FS is saying
grin.gif
She worded it better than me
smile.gif
The dummy could be a good idea for the initial lunge type work though !

And PP don't be silly!
grin.gif
Did you not read the list of food I've eaten tonight *typing one handed whilst eating magnum at the moment..*

I'm just internally challenged
blush.gif

Oh and Pixxie don't get me started on the clipping debate
crazy.gif

Darcy hasn't really got hot enough on a regular basis to warrant a clip - but at the same time he's super hairy!
confused.gif
He's schooled for 45 minutes about 3 times a week and 35 minutes of that is in trot/ canter! Sometimes he's off hacking for 1.5-2 hours too so pfft! I'm considering giving him an Irish Chaser "just because"
blush.gif
because I'd like to know what he's like about it
blush.gif

*hides from fires*

DL: Is an irish chaser the same as a normal chaser?
As in half the neck off down to just in front of hind leg, (or is that a tracer) I get confused easy

well she hasn't done much actually, i think all they done at place she was brought from was sat on bareback by a child 'apparently'
crazy.gif

so would kind of be from scratch don't even think she will lunge
crazy.gif
to lunge would you do it in saddle and bridle etc she's not done anything other than go for a walk in hand
blush.gif

which is why i've told my sister a number of times that she is wasted here
smirk.gif

right am off for a bath keep the ideas coming though
smile.gif

I'd introduce lunging before the saddle/ bridle idea etc as if you did all in one hit it might pop her brains a bit!
blush.gif
grin.gif

Maybe try in a bridle and get her used to a bit before hand? Once she's used to that I'd pop her on the lunge
smile.gif
Then maybe try some long-reining etc.

ldlp - don't lunge with tack on to start with then, just cavesson and a lunge line. Walk round with her first, and gradually step away until she is in a small circle.

Unfortunately, I think this is a re breaking issue then, not a re start. So, you'll have to go right back to the basics. Lunging, long lining, tack on and lunged, long lined with tack, then sit over, sit on, etc.

I would go right back, if it was me, sorry
