Agree Slinky, mollichaff is good too, and oil. If he can take it, evn vegetable oil in his feed will help!

he can't have alfalfa oil as he goes nots on it. hee is on molicaff apple. he has been moved to a different field as of tomorrow and is going to be getting haylage in the feild as well( he as at my friends yard as the kid onm him has been riding him for me over the summer months). he is been ridden at the moment as don't like him of work unless he has to be as he stiffens up (he has got worn cartlige in his both hocks).

Ok stick to the Mollichaff apple but just give him more and add oil to it, the extra oil may help with his joints too. The extra haylage should sort him out as well. The combination of oil and fibre should give him a nice steady weight gain - agree with f_s about Pink Powder - otherwise I would say he just needs more of what he is already getting.
