Good morning everyone. Feeling much better today, think I'm over the worst of my cold, though I will of course milk it for all it's worth.
Belle seemed a bit stiff last night when OH brought her in but when I took her rug off, the fleece rug I'd put underneath had slipped back really badly so I think that was restricting her movement - won't be doing that again!
She seemed fine this morning so I'm happy. And there were no signs of box walking (thanks to everyone who told me she'd be fine last night).
Good morning all just a quick one today as i,ve left my oh painting the kitchen and i want to wipe all the cupboards before all my junk get put back on.
Then back off to work then feed the neds busy busy busy.
I ill (yes, again!). It's becoming very, very boring. In fact scratch that, it is very, very boring
. We think it's diet related and am now analysing diet and planning various tests - I have a feeling that chocolate will be out
. Pah.
Missing an interview in London today due to yuck, and even worse, missing lunch with a friend. Was really looking forward to the lunch, if not the interview, so am mightly miffed; especially if it is due, as we think, to my own stupidity. Another 'Pah'!
JS - glad she's okay and that you're improving. I have to say I don't like fleece rugs for anything but throwing on after a bathing session. Could be 'cos all the ones I've ever met slip
.
f_s - you are far too chipper for this time of day
mrs m... oh no, do you think it's an allergy? or just bad eating? i have a friend, who aged 31 suddenly became allergic to gluten, dairy and soya. he's the worst dinner party guest EVER! poor you, i hope you feel better soon.
well, today i am bumming about all day. doing nothing. lovely. my eldest has finally gone back to school (after lengthy appeal process), my toddler is in nursery, my hubby is at work, so just me and the littlest little one (she sleeps ALL the time). so, i shall spend the day pottering round the house, doing the horses, catching up on HHO, watching shite tv... and drinking tea. yum. x
MrsM, chocolate can't be out! That's the only thing diet-related that makes me feel better when I'm down or ill! You'll never get better without chocolate.
Yes I think I'm going to avoid the fleece rug for anything other than drying off. She's been out before with a lw under her mw and that didn't slip so it must be the fleece.
Have finally dragged myself out of my sick bed - do feel a little bit better today - have woken up with out a cracking headache for the first time since Friday - hurray!!
MrsM - if you think its you diet you need to do a simple elimination diet. Brown rice and vegetables that are 'grown' here - so carrots, onions, etc not potatoes though and the only fruit you should etr again are fruits that are 'native' to UK. So apples, pears etc - absolutely no citrus fruit. Lots of water no tea or coffee. You need to eat all of that and nothing else for a week and then slowly re-introduce other foods one at time. It is the only way to identify which foods are upsetting you - it may just be that your body has just had enough and needs a break and everything is ok after it has had a 'detox'. If you thik you have a genuine gluten allergy eg coeliac disease you can have a simple blood test at GP's but for that you need to keep eating as you are otherwise nothing shows in the tests.
Right I'll stop lecturing now and drink my cuppa...........
. Will cut out the chocolate, dairy and grease for a few days and see what happens. If no joy, then will start on the rice, etc.
. I don't think it's an allergy as such, more an intolerance, certainly on the bread front - it seems to build up and then I get the most wicked cramps first thing in the morning - serious pain for a moment or two
Morning.
Still waiting for news on my sister. Not taken any interest until now, but now the time is here I can't wait to know!
Still nervous about Arch going back to vet as well. I could do with a busy morning in work but, no it's the quietest it's been for weeks.
MrsM - tbh I'm not sure if she's a coldy but her ears are warm when she comes in at night, not hot, and in the mornings the same in her stable. I feel the cold so sometimes I think I feel it more than her, but ysterday it was raining all day so the fleece was supposed to extra protection from the rain, some help that was! Rugging seems to be the main thing I just can't get my head around. Some of the other horses are out in hw with necks and even I know that's too much at the minute.
I think I worry as Belle is a 20 and a blanket clipped arab and I don't want her to lose weight. Plus I'm a wimp!
Morning all finger throbbing greatly. Managed to wrap enough polythene and sticky tape around to muck out.
The evil one that bit me looked apologetic this morning and his MUM has put a very big sign on his door apparently he is always mega grouchy in winter and didnt get turned out yesterday because of the torrential rain.
MrsM sorry you are feeling poorly I am trying to change my diet as we think my Winter Depression is diet rather than sunlight and so its up with the veg and down with the booze. I have not partaken of alcohol since Sunday.
Hugs to you MrsM, hope you can work out what is causing your problems, it may be something really boring like fruit that you can't eat, then at least you will have an excuse for eating junk
I did ride and lead with Millie and Charlie last night, Millie was a little star despite being pulled all over the place by Charlie who decided that there were horse eating monsters in every hedge
His breaks were awful and he kept cantering on the road, He was being so silly
Millie just trotted along behind though like an old pro
Next time I bet Charlie will be on his best behavior and Millie will play up
Little Jockey's bump is enormous
It looks so painful and to me her whole head looked swollen, it looked like he eyes had sunk into her head
She's still taking Painkillers and arnica so hopefully the swelling will start to go down soon
I spoke to her Dad about the whole thing and his initial shock has turned to fury! Up until last night he hadn't had a single phone call from any members of the hunt, nor from the women who knocked her off (who we now know was on the field Masters Horse
).
Last night the Hunt Master finally phoned to see how LJ was and N made it clear that he was not happy with how LJ was (or wasn't in this case) treated. Not sure anything else will be done about it but at least our point has been made and hopefully next time someone falls of they will behave a lot better!
Hugs to LJ. We all know Hunting is a risky sport, but the idea is that those involved all rally round and support each other, irrespective of age, etc.
Slinks - tell the headache to go away and leave you alone, you have things to do
Well work picked up and this morning's flown by so haven't had much time to think about things. I'm off home to take Archie to the vet now. Would be very grateful for some vibes at about 3pm. Will worry about sister after that.
Although, in America apparently swine flu isn't much of an issue and its perfectly okay to cough, spit, sneeze etc everywhere without any form of hand covering
Everyone still seems to be under the weather, poor things.
Work has started kicking off here too so I better get on with things. Must remember to take dog to groomers at 2 though! Keep forgetting, he'll not be happy if I forget to go! It's near the yard too so might just nip up and say hi to Belle too, make sure she's right temp in mw rug. Think I might get something yummy for lunch too but not quite sure what
