Hi. I have had a read of your post over that last few days. It sounds like your horse has massive ventral oedema rather than any abcess and you mention that her back legs are swollen too. This coupled with the fact that she has been colicing on and off since last thurday plus rapid weight loss is indicative of something rather more serious. If she was my horse, I would get the vet out pronto to do some bloods. It would appear from your posts that the vet has visited once, for the initial bout of colic, but not since. I apologise if that is incorrect, but that is how I have read it.
Forget the cost, get the vet out to see what the problem is, the vet precribing antibiotics over the phone and giving the advice to feed more is not the answer, the cause needs to be found before you end up with a very sick horse.
