swimming horses

Slightly off on a tangent I know. Can anyone who swims their horse or works at an equine pool tell me how you cope with horses droppings whilst swimming? When horses go into a hydrotherapy unit a "nappy" is used. Also when water is drained it goes into a 1st chamber to be filtered & treated, then into a 2nd chamber to chill & go back into the spa.
What happens when horses are in an equine pool, I dont think they wear nappies, I presume that they are likely to c**p. i do not think the pool is drained (far too expensive) so what happens to stop any bacteria etc????. I am completely baffled

I used to work at a racing yard with a swimming pool. The water is chlorinated. A long handled fine net is usually close at hand! We usually swam the horses every Sunday, and the pool is cleaned using a pump filtration system. The horses are groomed/washed in the wash box before they go in so they are relatively clean first.

To the OP, definitely find out if some racing yards have one.
