Noticed this morning that my dog has swollen glands (2 the size of about half a ping-pong ball under his bottom jaw. He is absolutely fine in himself - very perky - eating and poo OK. Would this be his lymph glands? Would this indicate a low grade infection? Am taking him to the Vet tonight just to get him checked out - typical as we are off to Crufts next week as we are part of a Good Cits display. Anyone any ideas?

I was told by a doctor friend that swollen glands are a good thing. It means they are producing white blood cells and antibodies needed to fight an infection. Get him checked, hope its nothing serious.

The vet (who is normally a very optimistic chap) shook his head and said he didn't like the look of it as all his lymph glands are swollen. He thinks its lymphoma. Blood tests and biopsy tomorrow. I'm scared.

Fingers crossed for you and him. Vets do tend to mention worse case scenario sometimes, try not to worry, although I know thats easier said than done.

The vet did say that eating a lot of cat poo (and he does eat a lot of cat poo) can cause the lymph nodes to swell. Has anyone heard of this or has a name for it? I was in such a state of shock I couldn't take it all in

I am sure he will be glad, grand, fingers crossed x

Never heard of that about cat poo because I try to keep them away from it anyway, it upsets their tums and I am paranoid about lungworm etc.
