Hi, I'm trying to design a better way to store all your tack in one place for a IGCSE project. Please answer some questions and give me feedback, any constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged, thank you!

•What problems do you face with storage in accordance to tack?
•How much would you look to spend on tack storage?
•Would you prefer everything in one place (tack cupboard)? If so, why?
•How often do you use your tack and grooming kit?
•Where do you currently store your tack and grooming kit?
•What would you like to see in the tack cupboard?
•Would it be more convenient for you to have your grooming equipment and tack in the same place?
• If you were to buy a tack cupboard, what sort of things do you feel you will require? (space for additional equipment etc)
•How would you improve storing your tack?(whether you're using a tack cupboard or not)
•Any additional ideas for a tack cupboard
Furthermore would you buy a tack cupboard if it met all your requirements?

Thank you for taking your time to answer this thread, it will be major help for my grade!

Hope this helps:

What problems do you face with storage in accordance to tack? Too much tack and not enough space. Rugs take up a lot but you might not consider rugs as tack.
•How much would you look to spend on tack storage? Difficult to say. I have gone from having space on a shelf for rugs, grooming kit and a saddle rack to having my own tack room. Its now 12 foot by 8 foot and I could still do with bigger so I don’t have to store rugs in the garage.
•Would you prefer everything in one place (tack cupboard)? If so, why? Everything together, so its easier to get hold of things.
•How often do you use your tack and grooming kit? Every day
•Where do you currently store your tack and grooming kit? Tack in the tack room and grooming kit is in the barn. Easier due to locks on the tack room.
•What would you like to see in the tack cupboard? Plenty of saddle and bridles racks, and a lockable area for valuables. Oh, and a kettle for a brew! (Sorry your talking cupboards not rooms)!
•Would it be more convenient for you to have your grooming equipment and tack in the same place? Not always so.
• If you were to buy a tack cupboard, what sort of things do you feel you will require? (space for additional equipment etc) As mentioned above, saddle and bridle racks and somewhere lockable, even if only a shelf.
•How would you improve storing your tack?(whether you're using a tack cupboard or not) Keep it tidy!
•Any additional ideas for a tack cupboard. Wheels for easy movement, if not too big or heavy. Must be robust and able to withstand what its designed for. Secure from all angles.
Furthermore would you buy a tack cupboard if it met all your requirements? Not now, but I would have before I had my own tack room.

•What problems do you face with storage in accordance to tack? security, ventilation, correct storage (proper bridle hooks and I prefer single pole saddle racks), keeping rodents or bugs away.
•How much would you look to spend on tack storage? am at livery at the moment so pretty restricted in what I can have, but it planning for stables at home it would depend on what was available. £500 would be absolute max for a secure solution.
•Would you prefer everything in one place (tack cupboard)? If so, why? I prefer to keep tack, incl horse boots and numnah, and riding boots and hat in one place so it's easy to collect everything at once. I don't mind keeping rugs and other kit somewhere else.
•How often do you use your tack and grooming kit? daily
•Where do you currently store your tack and grooming kit? I keep saddles at home, bridles in a cabinet at the yard and grooming kit outside stable
•What would you like to see in the tack cupboard? enough hooks/shelves/drawers for all the other odds and sods that need to be kept safe. Perhaps including other high value things like clippers.
•Would it be more convenient for you to have your grooming equipment and tack in the same place? I use grooming things more often than tack so I don't mind them being elsewhere but it would be handy to have everything in once place provided it was not too cramped. Some things like sponges or towels need to be out so they dry off.
• If you were to buy a tack cupboard, what sort of things do you feel you will require? (space for additional equipment etc) other than things already mentioned, i would also want a decent lock (ideally not using a key, and it would be ideal if insurance companies would cover it.
•How would you improve storing your tack?(whether you're using a tack cupboard or not) could do with more space! I already have stuff stacked up, I could do with some decent shelves but haven't found anything suitable yet.
•Any additional ideas for a tack cupboard
Furthermore would you buy a tack cupboard if it met all your requirements? yes potentially. I did have one before and found it useful but it wasn't big enough and I had so much kit outside, it really only contained saddles and bridles (most tack cupboards are not tall enough for bridles to hang properly).

What problems do you face with storage in accordance to tack? Can never quite get the saddle into locker without either catching it on the cantle and scuffing or bending the panels. Also can never find what I'm looking for so have to empty out and repack each time
•How much would you look to spend on tack storage? I bought a locker for £200 second hand
•Would you prefer everything in one place (tack cupboard)? If so, why? Yes as long as i could get to everything
•How often do you use your tack and grooming kit? Daily but not all the bits just a select few brushes
•Where do you currently store your tack and grooming kit? Tack in locker, grooming kit on floor as shed overflowing
•What would you like to see in the tack cupboard? Hooks, shelves, space to put everything
•Would it be more convenient for you to have your grooming equipment and tack in the same place? Yes as long as I could see everything
• If you were to buy a tack cupboard, what sort of things do you feel you will require? (space for additional equipment etc) A light
•How would you improve storing your tack?(whether you're using a tack cupboard or not) I'd have a large shed which could house the locker
•Any additional ideas for a tack cupboard - Must be secure with hinges on inside so cant be cut off

•What problems do you face with storage in accordance to tack?

Security. Ability for tack to dry whilst being protected against bugs/mice etc.

•How much would you look to spend on tack storage?

I think my saddle locker was around £250. Also have lockers for jackets that were £25 each second hand. Also use feed bins for feed, feed bins for rugs, shelves with clear plastic boxes for odds and ends plus a rug rack.

•Would you prefer everything in one place (tack cupboard)? If so, why?

No, I like the saddles to only be locked when I need saddles. Besides, I have so much stuff it could never all fit in the same locker!

•How often do you use your tack and grooming kit?

Grooming kit 3 X a day. Tack most days.

•Where do you currently store your tack and grooming kit?

Tack in a locked locker that is also locked to the wall, in a locked and alarmed tack room. Grooming kit in plastic box in the grooming parlour, which is unlocked.

•What would you like to see in the tack cupboard?

Pole racks (single pole not frame). Shelf for spare girths/numnahs. Bridle hooks.

•Would it be more convenient for you to have your grooming equipment and tack in the same place?
Not really, the grooming kit is more accessible.

• If you were to buy a tack cupboard, what sort of things do you feel you will require? (space for additional equipment etc)

Single pole racks. Wide and deep enough to not scratch the saddle. Secure and secured to the wall. Ventilated but nt accessible to mice. Shelf.

•How would you improve storing your tack?(whether you're using a tack cupboard or not)

Heated would be nice. Just to take the chill off in winter.

•Any additional ideas for a tack cupboard
Furthermore would you buy a tack cupboard if it met all your requirements?

No as I already have one.

Thank you for taking your time to answer this thread, it will be major help for my grade!

What problems do you face with storage in accordance to tack?
space, lack of easy access to stuff inside- saddle is difficult to get in and out and stuff ends up at the back of shelves
How much would you look to spend on tack storage?
Something good quality that will last several hundred
Would you prefer everything in one place (tack cupboard)? If so, why?
One place, it makes it easier to keep track of everything and less likely stuff goes walking if on a livery yard.
How often do you use your tack and grooming kit?
Tack 6 days a week, grooming kit before and after riding and once on days off. When I'm at the yard the locker stays open until I leave.
Where do you currently store your tack and grooming kit?
Everything is in front of the stable. Tack is in an Animate metal locker, rugs are in a plastic garden storage box. Head collars and other random bits and bobs are hung up or dumped on the plastic box. Grooming kit lives on top of the plastic box. It's a mess, if I had more storage space and everything had a home it would be a lot better and easier to find stuff.
What would you like to see in the tack cupboard?
Good quality fittings so proper bridle racks not just hooks. Slide out saddle racks. Enough space to hold two saddles without folding the flaps. Decent ventilation. A secure lock that complies with insurance. A specific space for the miscellaneous stuff like horse boots, riding hat, riding boots, grooming kit, lunging stuff. A whip rack. Space to hang spare horse bits.
Would it be more convenient for you to have your grooming equipment and tack in the same place?
Same place
If you were to buy a tack cupboard, what sort of things do you feel you will require? (space for additional equipment etc)
2 saddle racks, 2 bridle racks, hooks, drawers
How would you improve storing your tack?(whether you're using a tack cupboard or not)
More space, drawers rather than shelves, some sort of anti-humidity thing
Any additional ideas for a tack cupboard
wheels would be a nice option, different colours or some stylish way to personalise, a mirror, a light
Furthermore would you buy a tack cupboard if it met all your requirements?
Maybe but realistically probably not as I already have one

•What problems do you face with storage in accordance to tack?

Getting things in and out of the storage I use

•How much would you look to spend on tack storage?

£200 if it was big enough for all my harness, but light enough to get in the car, and secure enough to leave by the trailer/car if it was locked up

•Would you prefer everything in one place (tack cupboard)? If so, why?

No, I have a lot of stuff! But I would like my harness, grooming kit, hats, boots and anything else I use daily in one placce

•How often do you use your tack and grooming kit?

most days

•Where do you currently store your tack and grooming kit?

Harness is in hard plastic wheeled suitcases, grooming kit in a plastic box, other stuff in drawers or boxes

•What would you like to see in the tack cupboard?

easy to get stuff in and out, way to make very secure and moveable

•Would it be more convenient for you to have your grooming equipment and tack in the same place?

yes

• If you were to buy a tack cupboard, what sort of things do you feel you will require? (space for additional equipment etc)

space for my every day stuff easy to move and easy to secure, not too heavy

•How would you improve storing your tack?(whether you're using a tack cupboard or not)

I have my harness stored across 2 suitcases as 1 isnt big enough and it drives me mad having to get one then go back for the other, loaded up like a pack horse with the rest of the stuff!

•Any additional ideas for a tack cupboard

Nice colours. I like all my stuff to match

Furthermore would you buy a tack cupboard if it met all your requirements?

Probably. I do look at them occasionally and none are suitable. If one was I would def be interested. I like tuff to be stored neatly and easy to get to.
