Second hand section.
Bit bank or bit hire.
Loyalty scheme of some sort.
Speak to feed companies and see if they'll do a visit from a nutritionist now and then (Baileys are based in Essex I'm sure and they are great for freebies).
Stock a range of cheap good stuff and dearer good stuff.
Employ or have available a good saddle fitter with trial facilities on site if poss (and have second hand saddles).
Huge (free) notice board.
Something to keep husbands/boyfriends/kids amused (how about a sofa and a TV tuned to sky sports for the blokes and a trampoline for kids or a playstation). I suspect both would pay for themselves.
A dog section.
Farm shop and cafe with great home baking.
Qualified decent staff.
Proper BP fitting (with a saddle on a saddle Horse).
Lots of good Horsey books. So many tack shops don't sell books!! OH....mega great idea....a Horsey book library. How many people have Horsey books at home that they no longer read? Have a free library (well....a donation tin to an equine charity) that folk can bring their books to. Keep a note of who owns what and who borrows.....in case they want them back!! I guess you'd have to trust folk on this one. Could issue a 'card' liked to loyalty scheme even.
Rug repairs and washing.
Sponsor local shows if you can!
Oh....shop branded saddlecloths as a prize at said local shows....free advertising!!
Bling......never see it in tack shops yet lots of riders love it.
A decent range of high vis, again never seems to be available online.
Staff in a 'uniform' of some sort.....as in a branded polo shirt (maye a feed company or tack company would sponsor this for you).
I envy you.....if I had the space and money I'd do the same. Good tack shops are rare.............I'm sue yours will be one of them!! Thing is to get people in....and away from buying online.
