I haven't owned any TBs myself as Welsh Ds and ISH are my preference for my own horses. However I have spent the last 7 years playing polo alongside keeping my own horses. A significant number of the polo ponies in the UK are ex racers or TBs that never made it to racing. They are tough, hardy and talented horses. I can't say all TBs will be the same but I definitely wouldn't discount them, Polo ponies are very adaptable, tolerant and many are level headed in a fast paced environment so it is definitely possible for TBs to have this temperament.

Hi everyone.

Been very busy with work and life so im sorry for the late update.

Just wanted to come on and say thank you all for your input and help. i did buy the horse. I had him vetted and he passed, vet was very pleased with him, hes not going to be a world beater but im not looking for that.

He’s been here a couple of months now and he has settled in so well. I was without a saddle for a little while, but weve been slowly getting to know each other, hacking and weve had a few lessons. So far so good, he is pretty laidback and everyone is a bit taken by him!
Obviously the amount he raced is a concern but he really was the best horse i viewed (i went to see a couple more inbetween my first and second viewing of him). ive got him some lifetime insurance which will hopefully help if we have issues.
Hes had the physio out since i got him and she thought he looked fab and the farrier is impressed with how clean his limbs are.

He’s teaching me lots and we’re learning how to use our bodies properly haha!

He looks very cute. Whilst he has done plenty of racing, at least you know he's physically tough enough to stand up to hard work, which makes him far tougher and sounder than the 'average' horse. Wishing you lots of enjoyment getting to know each other!

Thank you. I hope so!
He is a sweetie and I’m really excited to progress with him! I haven’t done any proper schooling or jumping for ages due to only having my old man to hack so I have lots to re-learn
