Very werid, he normally seems pretty gun ho across the country. Does anyone know how much he's been out lately? Sour perhaps.... Either way, he didn't want to play today
According to Mike Tucker (not always reliable) Sharon was eliminated for outside assistance. The time had been ticking away anyway so she'd have clocked up a lot of penalties if she had beel allowed to start, when TT finally said ok!
he did the same thing at Belton iirc, and she had to get off him then. I don't know why she didnt' get off and lead him in here, and get legged up... since riders are allowed leg-ups on the course, I would have thought that would be allowed.
Hes done it a few times now as far as I recall. I was surpised to see so many people around her.... there is normally only 1 or 2 "to hand" at the start box. I wonder how long it had been going on for before the TV cameras turned to it ? Seems odd that Yogi was trying to tow her in.. wonder if it was half expected and if so, why they didnt just lead TT in then leg her up before the starter said the magic word "go".
Sharon looked almost paralysed by it all... but then its easy to say that from the safety of my sofa !
Sadly Jasper has a mind of his own and the leading into the start unridden did work at burnham market but to be fair to Sharon the trouble with Badminton is that it is so high pressure that there will be loads of people offering help and opinion and how can you tell someone like Yogi that dragging the horse would make no difference, probably quite the opposite. at any other show Sharon would have no doubt dealt with it with groom and family but Badminton is just a completely different kettle of fish.
Just got back from 4 days at badders and was wondering what happened to sharon , her being a local girl an all that, I'm just uploading the 3000 photos i took!
I don't think it is stubborness exactly - it is more just so much excitment they can't move. I had a pony like this, once he got going he went like the wind and I don't think there was any adverse reason for planting, the atmosphere just got to him. Not that I was ever eliminated.
I'm a bit rusty on the rules, but I think you can have someone lead you up to the start, but she would have been eliminated for outside assistance for giving her a leg up, as you are only allowed that if you have a fall - not 100%sure I am right.
It looked like nappiness to me, but I know what you mean regarding 'planting', they can sometimes be like that. He knows the game though.
Some racehorses are the same & refuse to start. What a shame Tankers Town has started this habit, has he only started this season?
On another forum a lot of posters are complaining at the treatment of the horse! For my part I thought he was being a b****r & deserved all the 'encouragement' he could get.

You can have help up to and in the start box until the starter says 'go'
After that outside help is elim. You have 1 min to go through the start after 'go' or also elim.
She broke both those rules.

Does the clock start when the starter says 'go' or when you pass through go, ie through the red/white flags leaving the start box..
So, if the starter says 'go' and it takes you a further 10 seconds to get through the start, is that 10 seconds into your time, or time doesn't start till you pass go???
Unless it's been changed recently the clock starts when the starter says "go". If it takes you ten seconds to get out of the box then that's ten seconds into your recorded time.
TarrSteps is right.
a friend's horse got so beside herself that she jumped out of the back of the startbox at Bramham, straight into the carpark... friend lost quite a few secs getting out of carpark and back into startbox to go!
