Tattoos of Horses

Hi

I am looking into getting a tattoo, and have been looking at ones of horses. I am struggling to find something that doesn't look tacky. It would be somewhere easily hideable. Do any of you have tattoos and/or have any design suggestions? I don't want anything massive or in colour.

it's not a horse one but my OH has a portrait of our old dog on his shoulder, we took the photo in and the tattoo artist got it exactly right, it looks like the picture.

any good tattoo artist will be able to do it but ask to see their work before hand. ;)

if you don't want one of your own horse then how about a horse shoe or something maybe with a horses head above it?
 
I personally don't like horse tattoos, they just don't seem to look right!!! So went for something completely different and have loved it. Thinking of getting another one but haven't found the right one yet. You will know what you want when you see it, but have a look round a few places and if you do have a personal choice, do take in a few photos so the artist can get a good idea what you want.

When I first got them done about a year ago!
 
I have got a tribal horse on my ribs just black and grey if you google (images) horse tattoo's you should be able to get an idea of what you want
 
i have just had a portrait of my own horse, i have just had the head done, it's on my shoulder, it was taken off a photo, it looks fab. oh by the way it's not in colour just shading and dosn't have an outline.

I like those, I had not thought of a carosell (sp) horse, you could have pretty colours, that has given me some thing to think about.

I want a tatoo as well, have been thinking for a few years of having some form of daisy ( after my little girl), but not sure where to have it, or a pretty horse shoe hanging from a ribbon coming a little way down the back of my neck, i have long hair so it would only need to be on show when Iwanted it to be.

I also welcome ideas on design and where to have it :D

Cool tatt :D how a bout a small daisy chain around your ankle which tails onto the front of your foot with her name in a slightly bigger daisy
 
I had always planned to get the ferrari prancing horse, fairly small, on my hip. Just haven't been brave enough!
 
A girl at my college had a line drawing of a horse on the inside of her wrist which I always really liked, maybe something similar?
 
I'm suming up the guts to have my old lad's head on my shoulder, as he always used to rest his head on them anyway.

Just need to be brave and find a decent tattooist.
 
My horse has a lightening bolt ,almost perfect but slightly wonky on his head. I want that, anyone who knows him will know what it it lol bit quirky
 
I would go tribal and look up celtic tattoos. I have one that is done in black and grey on the top of my left leg. I recently sold a novel based on celtic mythology, so I have the head and wings of a pegasus to symbolise writers but instead of a horse's body it has a celtic knot to symbolise the book. I love it and it is very easy to hide.

PS Spend a lot of time researching the tattoo artist and don't be cheap, get a good one.
 
My friend had a tattoo done of her old horse...... Unfortunately, he is the ugliest horse that I have seen in my life..... st the Tattoo is the splitting image and it's huge!!!!

Bless. I didn't have the heart to tell her he was ugly!

I have a horse head tattooed on my shoulder, its bigger than I hoped for but I still love it! :D

I got the image off google, just black outline but I adore it.

Best thing about it, it was free! My uncles a tattooist so I get all my tattoo's free :)
 
on one shoulder i have the head of an old much loved horse with his name underneath, this was done from a photo and on the other is the upper head and body of a unicorn with ivy trailing around him
 
Hey I'm very into tattoos(even spent 1/2 a year tattooing in a shop) and generaly I draw most of them myself. But If you do your research and find a good tattooist and you describe what you want they should draw something up for you!
