Now that is one pony that is going to be so sorely missed. Plucked from nowhere, he became such a little superstar. Poor Karen and all connected, that is so sad
How awful! What a loss of such an amazing star. My thoughts are with all his connections at this horrible time.
Also New York Skyline has been put down after breaking a leg in the field =|
What a horrible few days for the equestrian world.

That really has made me feel sad.
I was so looking forward to seeing him at the Olympics.
I wonder what happened, normally the Olympic horses are wrapped in cotton wool, I was reading in our local paper this morning Lucy W's horse is in a padded stable and wearing sheepskin wraps whenever he is moved!
I suppose all it takes is for a horse to kick a wall etc.
I shall miss watching that super little pony..
Very sad news, he was a fantastic pony. One in a million. I was wandering if he may get an Olympic call up seeing as I had lunch with the team trainer yesterday and he mentioned him.....
Oh no, that is absolutely terrible, i was so looking forward to seeing him win a medal in Beijing. Absolutely gutted, my heart goes out to the O'Connors.
r.i.p. Teddy
OMG can not believe it!
He was a little superstar, was so looking forward to seeing him get on the US team for Beijing and go to the Olympics. Karen and all concerned must be devastated and my thoughts go out to them.RIP Teddy

Thoughts go out to you all. RIP clever Teddy

He was NOT plucked from nowhere! (No offence intended!) He was purpose bred by my friend Wynn Norman. His sire was Wynn's JC TB named Witty Boy (aka Theodore) and his mom was Chelsea - 2nd generation product of Wynn's breeding program.
Wynn started Teddy herself and managed his career brilliantly! She is a Professor and is not wealthy. Everything she did for Teddy was done without a bankroll. I have been SO proud of her! And I am just so crushed for her to lose Teddy now. Esp. as he was just short listed for Hong Kong.
At least he had already won 2 Gold Medals at the Pan Am Games and a 3rd (and Best Conditioned!)at Rolex last year along with his 6th place from Rolex this year.
My heart is just breaking for Wynn and Karen O'C and Max - his groom. And all of his connections.
Just wanted to set the record straight for Wynn. She deserves so much credit for producing and managing him! She is a real inspiration to US breeders!

No offense taken - really! I just needed to set the record straight for Wynn - I can't imagine how gutted she must be right now.
Here is a post from a mutual friend of ours.

Karen and Max were hacking Teddy and another horse this morning (don't know which one). Teddy was being frisky and they decided Max should dismount and walk him back. He spooked and got away from her and ran back to the barn where he suffered a catastrophic injury to one of his hind legs and the decision was made to euthanize him.
One of those things that could happen to any of us any time.
Give your ponies (big and small) extra hugs today. You just never know.
