Well I thought I had posted a ridden show report but it seems to of dissapered and my searches are bringing up zilch :( So I will do a report for Ted's last two shows.

Will start with the one 2 weeks ago which was an agricultural show quite near us, on the Tues before the show I did a last min practice with Ted in the school and he went hoof perfect. On showday his owners (who let me ride him) trailered him and their youngster to the show and I accompnied another girl and her pony who were hacking to the show. When we got there I was warned by his owners that Ted was being a bit spritely and had double barrelled them when loading and unloading! Seening as Teds classes wern't until the afternoon we left him with his haynet and prepped other ponies. Ted's first in-hand class came up and I was watching (owner was handling), Ted was very hyper and full of himself, spinning, jogging and bucking. We went to tack up for my class with him and we were dealing with one very hyped up pony, now a hyped up little pony may sound funny even a little cute, I assure you it is not. Little ponies are strong and swift not a good combo.

Finally got tack on and was working him in, he was a little strong and bunny hopping then ran off with me down the horsewalk but I felt I could controll him so I entered the class still. The group walk went fantastically Ted was showing off in front of the crowd and even though he was joggy he was ok, the trot was a bit rushed up one side where there was a bouncy castle and he went sidewards for a bit but we got a nice balanced trot down the long side and then came the individual show. The walk element was fine, but then in trot Ted put his head between his knees, bucked and turned sharply, as a result the shetland saddle pad he is ridden in slipped, I ended up unbalanced minus a saddle and stirrups on a pony that was bucking and being an idiot, managed to stop and swing my legs over him and land on my feet! :D Sorted saddle and went to get back on and my stirrup leather came off! I was well and truely mortified at this point, went back into the line up where Ted stood nicely apart from a few mini-rears just to test me but after growling at him he stood nicely. Needless to say we didn't get placed.

After long discussions with his owner we concluded that Ted's behavoir was down to a few factors, 1. Ted hadn't been turned out because we had been doing show prep, 2. The show was on grass, 3. He had a feed the night before when he usually has nothing. Anyway, Pictures are below

And onto show number 2 :) This was just an in-hand show, we learnt from our past mistake and made sure Ted had plenty of turnout. He was brilliant whilst travelling once we convinced him to get on the trailer :D When we got there he thought it would be funny to roll after I had groomed him and put on all his sprays, I was not amused. H e still has his winter coat he didn't look his normal beautiful self, infact he kind of looks like a teddybear but it is quite cute. Ted was very lazy in the ring and I had trouble getting him to move forward into a nice active walk, we got a 4th in handler which I was happy with as it was my first in-hand show with Ted and a 5th in Mixed M and M including welsh which I am happy with as it was a tough class with 1,2,3,4, all being taken by welshes (and we beat 2 as well :D)
