taking taz out for a potter today as he only had his shoes off a little while ago and he is coping really well with not having shoes but we are only walking
so i wandering along and i see a horse infront but there was no rider and it was trotting away my first thought was loose horse but then i though it could be being led by someone on the ground as a lot of people do that around here
then it turned around. it had no head collar or anything on and was completly alone and it had noticed taz and started cantering towards us and before i knew it, it was talking to taz and they were snorting and squeeling at each other, at this point i called the police they spent ages taking my details and decided i needed to talk to hampshire police so i was put through to them, they took all my details again and then they decided that i needed surrey police. by this point things had escelated (sp?) and the horse had turned around and double barrelled both me and taz, taz took it and just moved sideways away and then the horse became very threatening towards taz, so he turned his arse and kicked the horse all while i was still on the phone on hold.
they then told me to hang up and that they would call me back at this point we had backed up to a gate and there was wire and a ditch behind us and the horse carried on kicking me and taz and biting at taz's face, i had tried to get away from it but it wouldnt let us past and kept putting itself across the path so we couldnt get passed.
the police then phoned back and asked me for my details again for the 3rd time and then asked me if the horse was still with me and at which poit it squeeled and charged me and taz and taz whipped around and kicked it again. i then became increasingly panicked which wound taz up even further and i was still holding taz with one hand which my whip in that hand too talking on my phone to the police and trying to kick the horse off as it was biting my leg.
while all this was happening and you could see the obvious distress to me and taz 3 dog walkers walked past without even a second look even though i was shouting for their help and i was still on the phone to the police they were still asking me questions like cant you get away from it, will it let you touch it, how close is it etc to which the horse was biting taz and was letting me touch its face. he asked me if i had a head collar or a bridle on me - well taz was wearing it so no i didnt he then asked me if i could get it to follow me on to the nearest road WTF?! and then he put me on hold. he then came back on and said and i quote
" we are unable to attend to this incident as our officers are not equipped to deal with it so if you could call someone you know to help you that would be good. im really sorry i hope this is sorted out soon would you like me to call anyone?"
to which i went completely off the rails i went hysterical and i was shaking and crying no one would help me the horse had already caused injury to me and taz and i didnt know what to do.
i called my step-dad who must have been very confused as at first he couldnt understand me because i was crying and then i shouted help me and then the horse mounted taz with me on him to which point i screemed while still on the phone "get off, get the ******* off" and just general screeming. taz was double barrelling him in the legs and the belly and i had dropped my reins and i had turned around and i was beating it everywhere with my schooling whip there was nothing else i could do. my step dad then sounded panicked and said i will be right there to which point he hung up not knowing where i was and not knowing what had happened.
i rang him back and told him where i was and what had happened as it must have sounded like something completly different and the horse started kicking and biting again then it trotted about 50 yards away from us and called to taz and then because taz didnt move it cantered back and started to wander towards the road.
the horse then noticed a woman who was walking her dog and trotted towards her and then my step dad turned up and started to go after it as it took off. he sent me back to the yard with taz and at which point taz was lame and i was talking to the lady and apparently it had been out since the early hours of the morning. i couldnt believe no one had done anything about it?
when i got back the police met me back at the yard and put me in touch with the community leasion (sp?) officer, i then got a call from my step dad to say he had caught the horse and had put it back in its field and that the owner had been contacted
i checked taz over and he had 6 hoof shaped swellings on his side and lines of swelling on his bum from where it had tried to mount him, he also had a few cuts on his face from being bitten. the other horse was fine and had only hoof marks on his side which was just where the dust had risen. i have a bruise on my thigh from when i caught me when he mounted taz.
i am just so glad it didnt happen to anyone else. i am also glad i was on taz as he stayed so calm even when i was hysterical on the was home he took me home even though he was sore
this all happened when i was in my bareback pad and luckily taz had his reflective bum sheet on so he didnt get any serious injuries
pointless post really but thats an experience i hope no one else has!
