Hi - possibly a stupid question - I had this comment on my test sheet yesterday. What does the judge mean?! it accompanied a 7 score for a move which was basically turning & trotting up the centre line pre-halt. TIA :)

Can you ask the judge? It is a little ambiguous as pushing through the poll could be a pleasant comment of a nice outline and the topline working correctly or it could be pushing too much and be a little tense.

To be fair, if I got a 7 I wouldn't worry too much and would err on the positive (how did the horse feel when doing the movement? between hand and leg, in front of the leg?)

Thanks - the whole test to me felt tense but we scored well (68.4%) and won our section by over 3% - confusing! I can't really remember what she was doing at that particular point. I should have asked the judge really, I'll see if my instructor has any thoughts. Like you I'm unsure if it's a positive or negative comment!!

I've not heard that phrase before, can you tell if it written in a positive or negative way, good pushing through the poll, needs to push through the poll or shouldn't be pushing through the poll?

I'm still confused!! Never mind. It literally just says 'pushing through poll' - it's the turn up the CL on P15 so the penultimate movement pre halt. Just thought I was being stupid in not getting what she meant! Thanks all :)

Is it possible it was meant to say "pushing through to poll"? As in, the horse is pushing from behind and coming through to the poll... Which would be a very good thing. I can't think what else that would mean.

I think I'm just going to take it as complimentary!! There was nothing horrifically wrong with the move so suppose nothing to worry about, just wondered if anyone could shed any light for me.

I would be confused as well but combined with a seven I would take it as a good comment .
I would defiantly take the sheet and ask your trainer on your next lesson ,knowing the horses way of going they may be able to suss what the judge means .
