Text requesting horsebox to pull over

I use my van for work and my phone number is on the back. My phone pinged and I ignored it as I was driving, but when I got home it was a text asking me to pull over and let the queue past!

If I see a phone number on a commercial vehicle, I expect it to be the company office. I don't expect it to be the driver's personal number, and I certainly don't expect a driver to either pick up a call or read a text message.

On the other hand, some phones and some built-in car systems have a text-to-voice feature that will read out loud any SMS received.

It's good training for a carriage horse to pull over to let traffic past on a regular basis. The more they do it, the safer they get. Standing quietly is the most important skill you can teach a carriage horse.

Don't worry, standing still was that pony's favourite gait.

The roads may have improved and been widened since my trip to the UK but I was surprised by how narrow some of the roads were. We had looked at a map and these roads were marked in a way that made us think they were 2 lane roads like we find in America, not narrow lanes. I would think pulling over pulling a trailer or driving a horse box (see, I'm learning British English ;)) would be hard.
As far as black ice, a friend had a car wreck due to hitting some. The driver of the other car was killed and my friend was in hospital and rehab for 4-6 months being fixed and learning to walk again.

I had a driver honking away at me yesterday while slowing down gradually to turn right onto a side road yesterday. The main roads were icy and then there was a big sheet just on the downhill approach to the junction, where water had been running off the fields. I think the driver behind probably didnt notice until he couldn't slow down when I did. If I'd have turned when going any faster I'd have hit the hedge or ended up facing the wrong way ? Sometimes you can't win.

The narrow roads haven't changed. It's even more of a squeeze now that more cars are wider. Oh and there are more cars too
