For the last 18 months/couple of years, a really lovely girl has been sharing the little ginger pony whilst she's been at university here. The whole time, she's been absolutely fabulous - reliable, adores the ginger one, etc. Can't fault her at all, and I know how rare that is with a sharer!! :)

She graduates next month and is returning home - a long way away :(:(
I am trying to find the perfect present for her to say thank you. I have thought of photo and frame - will do that, but it seems unoriginal plus I know she has a lot of photos of him that she has taken.

Has anyone ever given/received a great horsey gift?

Thanks!

I would give her a bracelet made of the ponys hair or one of his shoes with a picture of him in with a lock of his mane weaved through.

I can recommend companys for both of these (have used said companys numerous times myself) if you PM me :)

It sounds silly, but I was once given a set of three leadropes (different colours) and I used them for years and they always reminded me of that friend. I was quite upset when the last one finally freyed into nothing.

You could get her a mug with a picture of him on, that would be cute and I got some mugs done on photobox and snapfish at Christmas time for under a fiver :-) maybe you could find horse shaped sweets and put them inside!

My friend got me a mug with my share horses pic on it for Xmas and I love it!

Also you can get really nice photo canvases, I've used tesco before xx

My lovely Owner has paid for my Olympic xc ticket (we are going together) - so maybe something like that? Really good Olympia tickets or something similar, depending what she's into? Like the horsehair jewellery ideas, tho!

Thank you guys - horse hair bracelets sound popular; that had never occurred to me! Will definitely look into that.

This sounds lovely - could you PM the company please?? And the bracelet of horse hair one whilst you're there please, would like to have a look at that too.

The mug is also a very sweet idea - you can't beat a good cup of tea and I have a very cheeky picture of him that would be ideal for a mug...

Thank you everyone! :) If you think of anything else please let me know, I might spoil her. :D

I like the site 3Beasties has posted, the lock of hair all spread out in a heart pendant is nice, especially if you could ask them to press a forget me not in it like they have on one? Would look lovely and she wouldn't necessarily have to wear it, could hang it up somewhere nice.

My friend gave me a book made on photobox full of pictures and nice text, you could do that?

When I went to uni my "owner" gave me a photo of her pony which she had put in a frame. I was delighted with it and have it on my desk, makes me smile when I am revising...It is a lovely photo and the frame is a metal one with horsey items on it :)

Just because it isn't 100% original doesn't mean it won't be appreciated!

I gave my YO e-vouchers to spend online at Rideaway Equestrian after she helped me and my horse through a very hard time. If you log on the rideaway you can see how to get them.

I gave my "helper" a copy of the Hovis book!

What a brilliant idea!!! Yes!!!

Ok, so I have so far:

  • Photo in horseshoe frame (love this idea, thanks Bettyboo)
'Keep Calm and Canter On' t shirt
Possible horse hair bracelet (thanks to everyone who sent me links or posted them on here - much appreciated. Little worried they might not arrive in time but definitely going to send a few emails over the weekend to find out!)
Nice grooming kit bag to put stuff in
Door plaque with her name and Ginger's name (not quite as childish as it sounds... I was bought one for Christmas that hangs on the wall in my bedroom, very pretty :) and makes me smile every time I see it)
    Hovis book!

I think that will probably be enough... Will get shopping properly tomorrow. Vouchers are also a possible idea - good suggestion. Thanks so much everyone :):)

as a sharer a horse hair bracelet or olympia tickets would be very well recieved! Im glad you appreciate her, its really nice to hear.

Not so keen on t shirt, horse shoe photo or book

I'm a similar age to your sharer (I think - I'm 18?) and if it was me I would absolutely love the horse hair jewelry :D Or a grooming kit bag - always v.handy and will remind her of you and ginger every time she's grooming. The hovis book also sounds like a good idea.

What is your budget if you don't mind me asking? (sorry if you've already said)

Olympia tickets would be amazing, but I couldn't just buy her one and then we're looking at over £100 for good tickets :(:( As fab as she is, I don't have a spare £100 at the moment... (or ever!).

T shirt I hope will go down well with her because the times we have been to training events/shows/displays we've come away with horsey hoodies and t shirts etc. so fingers crossed she'll like this one.

Feel a bit like I'm filling a stocking at Christmas!
