THAT french 'trainer'

lol has nobody ever read any of FBurton's other posts? :D

I think you'll find he's being ironic ;)

However, he does make a very good point. If it's OK enough to use "horse" language with your horse to the extent of thinking moving their feet around makes you the "boss", why not, as a logical extension, kick them, since other horses do this too?

Discuss :D

I can see your point, perhaps if a horse behaved in a way that warranted a kick.... Perhaps by nipping me on the bottom. This horse did nothing to warrant being bashed about the head or kicked.

I'd thought the "etc. etc." would be sufficient of a clue to indicate I was being ironic, and that I don't believe such nonsense. But no... I'm either drunk or an idiot. In any case, I apologize for being misunderstood.

Oh hello.. Are you a man?? We've lost our resident male lately... Wot sis name? Wiley Riley? You'll do... :D

Horrible...

The horse seemed fine before she started and I'm pretty sure she even stroked it's face before the whole circling debacle...

My horse was pretty similar with his head when I got him - vet just about managed a glance in his eyes but no chance of even touching his ears. Through being calm and gentle but insistent and lots of groundwork, anyone who is gentle can now play with the donkey ears - and no stress or drama or anything remotely resembling that performance! If you come at most horses faces directly with a raised hand, they tend to move their heads away...

'Etc etc' isn't ironic in any way or sarcasm or indication that we should read anything into your post other than what is stated. Clearly your words meant something entirely different to you.
Okay, fair comment. I considered writing "yadda yadda" - that would've been clearer. Plus, what I wrote seems so misguided to me that I assumed others would pick up on that too. Evidently not. I am sorry for causing consternation. :o

I am busy being ill and grumpy... And overly sensitive. If I was more alert I probably would have noticed :o

I'd heard about this video, but nothing quite prepared me for how ridiculous it is....just WHAT is she trying to achieve?? And why is everyone just standing there not saying anything, especially the owner?? I would not be responsible for my actions if someone tried to do that to my horse!!!

Oh my god, that was "Haras de la Cense" - I've studied there for six months several years ago.

It was the worst experience of my life and I learned absolutely nothing.

Their own horses were treated terribly, several died while I was there and the dressage horses NEVER got out of their stables unless they were being ridden.

I don't know the girl, but some of the french blokes I studied with were sadistic thugs and I was a little scared of them.

It's a shame, as the head trainer is very good, but has no power as the man with the money has all the say.

Wonderful. See how she tames that wild horse, what a horsewoman!

The fact that it went to her ears pricked, trusting and calm is not the point. Obviously it was a horse that needed putting in its place.

They were very harsh with the horses.

I complained a few times. The place is owned by William Kriegal, who turned up once or twice.

he just sees it as a money making venture.

The horses came in one day, and were on the website for sale the next day, with a zero added to the price, and a fine write up saying about all the natural training they'd had. It was a total con and I regret going there

The boss horse moves the other horses' feet. You have to be the boss. She was moving the horses feet. Kicking like that may have been a bit crude but horses do much worse to each other. etc. etc.

Uh huh.....but we need to respect that the way horses act around each other is completely different to the way we want them to act around us. They will nip, kick out at and pin their ears back at each other but this behaviour is not acceptable towards humans. There needs to be a mutual respect and this 'lady' has none for herself or the horse.

sorry just read your more recent post....I thought you were agreeing with the method too....phew!!! :D

It would be laughable, of it wasn't a poor sentient creature she was abusing. A calm, trusting horse turned into a head shy, nervous, confused mess who won't stand still.
Brilliant.

Why do people stand there allowing this to be done to their horse?

Just give me five minutes in a room with that trainer, a rope and a pair of steel toe cap boots:mad::mad::mad::mad: the most shocking thing is that she is happy being filmed doing this and that no one is coming forward to intercede:(

C'est horrifique.
I just wanted her to make one step to the left the whole time, a horse circling you like that is incredibly dangerous and why I teach horses I work with to stand still at the edge of the circle whilst I move into the middle rather than "letting them off" as I have seen a couple of people booted as the horse moved away. And to kick the horse whilst its back legs are a couple of feet away from you? Please repeat after me in a french accent "idiotique".

The whole not asking the right questions is totally true here. When she didn't get her own way (although I have no idea what it was she actually wanted the horse to do?) she had a tantrum. I feel like speaking to her in cantonese and then slapping her silly everytime she doesn't do what I say.

I had to register on the forum to reply to this post,

Being French, I have been to this trainer's website in the past and I am quite shocked, she is quite well known. Hearing what she was saying, she was trying to make the horse walk backwards. :(

She also swear at him/her several times

What a nasty biatch. I switched off after a few seconds as I didn't even like the start. Nasty and aggressive to that poor horse who looked like a nice person!

I don't often comment on these sorts of threads, I leave it to more learned folk. But I had to voice what is on my mind this time.

This video shows what a kind, trusting and forgiving soul most horses have.

Look at the size of the horse. Look at how much muscle and power it has.

And look at her.

The horse could pull away at any time. I don't believe that the trainer and the rope halter could hold it, if it chose to go.

The horse doesn't try to bite her. It doesn't try to kick her. A quick pull in the right direction and it could have, it if chose to.

It just stands there, looking sad, and looking confused (after the panic and obvious discomfort has stopped). Like it's thinking "she'll stop soon, and I'll make her happy with me". What could it have possibly done to deserve that?

As others have said, 5 minutes alone would do. No ropes. No boots. My bare hands would be fine.
