It is shocking in the daylight, the horses are all fine after their little escapade as are the chooks (although offended at not being allowed to roost in their stable!). Insurance people coming tomorrow etc. Horses having to get 24/7 a bit earlier than otherwise but happy enough, in neighbours grassy field and sorting out stables tomorrow.
Re the beds, ours are deep litter. We have a couple of neighbours offering to help, they have possible plastic form lighting etc. in them, should we clear them out (3 of them, chickens stable is fine and other one probably not being saved)?

The barn, shows a bit more clearly where the lorry was etc:

Horses were in the three stables closest to the feed room. The fire was stopped halfway along the first stable door (rug on it burnt, headcollar beside it not touched!)
The stable sisters mare was in(rug is burnt..not ripped!) Feed room next door:

note hole in roof!

the hay that is left(useless):

This is the feed room and the top of the wall going in front of lorry

the green pillar is where the concrete wall divides the feed room and stables

thank god everyone was ok - could of been so much worse
(probably doesnt feel that way though at the moment)

fire is my worst fear on a yard - it scares the hell out of me.

any idea what caused the fire yet?

no idea, would think most likely the lorry itself a fault somewhere? only thing we can come up with! Scary thing is it must just have gone up like that, as horses had been fed, hadn't finished feeds, little sister only in 10mins, I should have been out sorting lorry, it would only have needed to be a few hours later to make it worse!
You think great some bags have survived, until you look at them and bear in mind there was approx 100bales haylaged and over 100 bags all bed!
Me thinks there is no chance of saving the lorry ;p.
I'm not too bad now, we've all kind of accepted it and we're not letting it stop us doing everything, is tricky though with nowhere to tie horses etc (still v. horrible smokey smell in the barn, and will have to see how much of the roof, if not all, has to come down)

not new, but just resprayed and work done on it, it had a few bad things, but it was ours and we had it just nicely set up, tis just material in the end though, although it does have sentimental value, rosettes etc. in it from years ago and just we were quite happy with it!

Yikes - that is horrible! So lucky that there was someone there, sis' horse a lovely one.

Think the lorry may not be fixable...yikes. Hope everything was insured....

Keep holding up - at least nothing living perished...poor. poor you.

x

Those pictures make the story very real and shows that this could happen to each and every one of us. So glad that you have all come to terms with it and are moving on. I really admire your positive spirit

So glad that no one or animals hurt, what an awful dreadful thing, at least the material things can be replaced, good luck with getting it all sorted.

Thank goodness you and the animals are safe. Hope the insurance coughs up quickly so that you can get the buildings repaired and the replacables replaced.

OMG! I thought the first set of pics were bad but these really bring it home to you

Thank heavens you have such wonderful neighbours and friends around. I think the lorry may need quite a bit of work

Good luck with the insurance people

OMG thank god nobody was hurt, it could have been so much worse! What an awful thing to happen, can't believe how little of the lorry is left!

Bloody hell. Thank GOD all the people and horses (and chickens!) were safe. Things can be replaced, people and living creatures can't. Fingers crossed for a swift and generous insurance payout for you, so you can start getting things straight again.

OMG I missed your original post, how truely scarey. Thank goodness all living things are safe, but at the same time you must still be really worried and devestated, hope the insurance pays out quickly.

Oh my godness

I am so glad everyone is ok and the horses are unharmed. That could have been so much worse!

I have obviously missed your original post about this...when did it happen? My heart goes out to you, I know its only material things and they can be replaced but you still must be devestated.

Big Hugs ((((((())))))))

OMG how absolutely terrifying for you! I am so glad people and animals are safe, I should imagine you are desperate to find out what caused it.

I can see though that it could have been worse but what an awful thing to go through even still. x
