The agility thread

What a muppet am I! Reasonably local outside show slight old fashioned courses but they suit my small dogs and me. Both in the same graded 3/4 agilty which I hate. Pebs flew was amazing but I got in her way forcing her to back jump 🤬 Then Daz OMG was amazing nailed everything was fast for her and I did an extra jump ffs was so annoyed with myself. Daz jumping had 5 in the weaves plus time pens. Final agility again both in same class sadly with a graded class. By this time it was hot and Pebs had had enough she went round ok but again 5 for a refusal plus shed loads of time pens. Daz 5 plus time pens. Enjoyed the social side but so mad that I cocked up their best runs especially as it was nice and cool first thing. Oh well.

I went to Kelluki yesterday. Glorious weather, couldn't have been better. Beginning of the day I had three runs one after the other so on my knees by the last one but very pleased with how my girl ran. Won the C1-3 steeplechase with a lovely clear, that was my first class, quickly followed by G1-2 agility. She ran well again but we amassed 20 faults, then mad dash to G1-3 agility which I hadn't had a chance to walk and having run out of both brain and legs we were E'd.
Nice rest after that till G1-3 jumping where she made up her own course and was E'd. Final class was G1-2 jumping and another clear netted us a 2nd. Best day I have had for a long time.
Bit of a diversion on way home as we were near the route for the Round Britain cycle race so we were diverted via Kineton which was interesting as the streets are too narrow for such a lot of traffic. Looking forward to our next show now, Southam next weekend. One of my favourite shows and so close to home.

Yesterday was perfect weather, sunny but cool breeze and never got too warm. I don't cope with heat but not cold either. Days like yesterday are so rare but so wonderful. Nowhere near as nice today so very glad I picked the right day. Hope tomorrow isn't too hot for you.

Show tomorrow near Taunton. This week Rew has given up agility, he will only do tunnels. This was three days running at home, wouldn’t even take a jump. No physical reason for it.

Today I discovered that he’s been holding out for more treats - specifically cheese. He’s just done some fab work at home, really switched on. He’s now in a lacto coma. 🤣

Small dog training with Sam today and he was on top form, nailed a seesaw layer, call offs over the face of a tunnel and some very cool pull-in sequences.

Large one has run over intermediate this week and a handful of A-frames and looks absolutely fine, next physio appointment is on the 13th. Hoping to have one last end of season competition entry. 🤞

We’ve been at Agillidogz independent show this weekend. He’s had a little time off as he wasn’t quite right at his last show , couple of poles down and ran past A frame . He had a physio appointment the following week anyway and she confirmed he was a bit tight over his back , so laser , massage and a rest .
He was back to full form yesterday, a bit too much as he was wild and had 2 E’s 🤦‍♀️, but got his act together to come 2nd in steeplechase final which was for highest points over summer season .
Today he’d got his head together and was 1st in agility and jumping , and a frustrating 2nd In steeplechase which was totally my fault . Gave left cue too soon and pulled him away from the jump ! Withdrew from final class as heavens opened , and in fact shortly after decision was made to abandon later classes on safety grounds .
Later this month we have our first KC show since new matrix , so that should be interesting.

We went to day 2 and how I wish I hadn't! Sadly much hotter which the girls didn't appreciate. Yesterday they were so slick getting you in the ring ready when previous dog near the end sadly not today! Walked course and queued with pup. A couple of dogs ran and judge decided to change course so everyone walked it again and Daz was out in the heat too long. Ran well but came out of weaves so obviously time pens. Ran to car, well walked haha swopped dogs and took Pebs. Really odd as she face slammed going up the AFrame?? Got E for a back jump my fault. Best part of the day was popping both girls under a micro hoop. It will be tight so not sure whether either will measure in. Cancelled rest and came home as it was just one of those days and the 3 of us had had enough!

Was that a micro hoop at 28cm ? Last time I saw a post they were still discussing that or 30 cm

It was a 30 cm hoop. I certainly don't want it to be 28 cm as no way will I get there! 😂I know they haven't yet decided the height or tbh whether they will even include Micro.
Thanks . It’s so frustrating that they can’t make a decision, saying it may become effective in Jan 2026 but that seems unlikely.

Interesting day today at Blackdown, hopefully the YT vid works. This was a G1-2 jumping, 44 seconds 147m so new matrix, 19 efforts in the ring. One esteemed local judge and trainer had a word with the judge to say did they realise this was a G1-2 class and received a terse ‘I can’t make it any easier’.

There was no queue at the start because nobody wanted to run. There were 34 starters, 22 were E, and only three went clear.

I was delighted with our round which got us a third place rosette. We had 8.983 time faults (we might never improve, weaves are a constant problem), apart from the weaves I wouldn’t say he is crazy slow. G1 forever… 😊

STR what a fab run and great handling. He is amazing 😍Once he gets the weaves he "should" easily make the time! My 3/4 course at the weekend was easier than that!

It’s so lovely having friends backing you - just listening to three of them there all rooting for us makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

Oh my goodness I love him! 😍 😍😍

Arthur had 2 G6 wins at Kelluki on Saturday.

I was really pleased with his weave entry in the jumping. Loved the agility..... his round the backs are getting tighter and retraining his dw over the winter seems to be paying off (although it was nothing short of torture at the time).

Very happy that I seem to mainly be doing okay with remembering the more difficult courses. He doesn't give me much time to think.

Yes, I did one day last year and decided to do the Saturday and Sunday this time. Really enjoyed it and the courses were great with lovely lines
I did Thursday last year when it was thick fog but still loved it. Went Friday this time and had glorious weather, so lucky. All the course were superb and I had a great time.

Another show this weekend. I did the Friday and the Sunday. Friday was sunny and warm Pebs was a good girl both agility rounds 5 in the weaves plus time. 😊 Dazzle well 🙈 she had fun on the plus side got all her contacts but overall the lights were on but nobody was in.😂

So today was cloudy and cool and what a difference. Pebs did a lovely clear in the 4/5 agilty for a clear......but time pens 😭 then in the 3/4 she was clear inside the time for a placed 2nd. But am sure the lack of round the backs helped. Daz was also clear inside the time for an unplaced 2nd. In the jumping Daz had pens but I hadnt walked course as was in other ring. Then her final agility and she was very sniffy and distracted so that was 10 plus time. A good day and am looking forward to the winter shows and the cold 🥶

I went to SWAT today, the forecast was dire. We had a good two minutes in the warm up ring where we got contacts and weaves, weather was blustery but dry so coat back on to Rew, briefly queued for our agility - he was absolutely rubbish (I never met him know he’s rubbish, he gets shedloads of praise no matter what), we cocked up the weaves I think four times, pulled off some jumps, missed ALL our contacts and back jumped the last! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I pulled him from his next two runs as the storm rolled in, and that is the end of our outdoor season. Camp this Thursday and Friday with Chloe Brown and Sam Lane, who knows how that will go!

I went to Southam Sat and today. Some lovely courses which I thoroughly enjoyed running. One of my friends managed 2 agility wins on Friday so is now G2, so happy for her. Was very lucky today to be finished all 4 runs by 1pm just as the rain rolled in. Yesterday a big thunderstorm rolled right past us and hit a few miles further on with several strikes. Someone was on our side that is for sure.
