Last night it was pouring with rain - it started at about 3pm yesterday afternoon and was literally like a monsoon but everyone decided they were leaving their horses out.

So at 12.45am this morning I get woken up (I live at the yard) by the gate to one of the fields being opened and the sound of horses being moved and an engine running. I panic thinking we are being burgled/the horses are being stolen - we have had a couple of strange vans cruise the yard recently and my mare is a coloured cob kept in that field.

But no - its not burglars/horse thieves but one of the liveries who wanted to put her horses in their stables so they were dry to ride in the morning.....

They were lucky the YO (who is a farmer) didn't shoot them.....

If someone had woken me up at that time, and scared me to death, I would have shot them myself!!!!

not what I would do personally, but what if they were worried about horses in horrible rain and made up an excuse for getting them in? cant really blame them for that and they are THEIR horses.

Not acceptable on a livery yard where everyone is supposed to be off between 10pm - 6am (exceptions obviously for poorly horses and competitions) especially when it was raining just as hard at 7pm when they fed them hay and didn't feel the need to rug them or bring them in then.

Sorry it is just plain inconsiderate - and the horses concerned are big shire crosses so unlikey to dissolve in rain - and they are talking of leaving them out 24/7 over winter to save money.
