Appears BD are requesting horses are registered with this (from FB). It seems to be a large database that holds information from UK passporting agencies and allows you to register (with formal ID) to claim your horses.

Anyome else heard about this?

Yeah, the Equine Register. i think there was some discussion about on here a while back. I have got all but one of mine done, the other has a Weatherbys irish passport and they don't recognise it ughh

Most of mine were a right faff to get registered. They wouldn't accept me as the owner of my homebred despite me being her only owner and I passported her. all sorted in the end though, they were quick to respond to queries, it was just that all of them had different problems :p

It's an interesting concept, not sure how easy it would be for foreign horses, or if it is supposed to become mandatory at some point. I don't BD, but my sharer does BD on my boy. Wonder if they are next!

your horses are probably already on it, as it's Defra's sort of repository for all the info from the various passport orgs. Although my passports all look correct it turns out they had incorrect info on the database at their end so its worth logging on to check IMO.

I registered as keeper of mine with DS. When I reported the death of one despite following instructions and cutting the corner off the passport and photographing it for DS the breed society would not accept the evidence and I still had to send it off. I have deleted the app as useless for me.

The CED is of little use and is for DEFRA,no use to the horse owner as you can only look up horses with the chip number and the UELN is the only thing that all horses have and this tells you who issued the passport and German ones tell you the insemination cetrer, covering certificate number and two digits of the year. DEFRA said in November 2020 all hrses had to be chipped and at that time there were 611000 on the CED with no chip now there are 804349 with no chip.

One of mine is a Spanish import and as I did the import form and registered with the UK PIO she is on there. I need to sort it out though as it is saying the owner names don't match, I think it is because mine are registered with my middle name and I didn't put my middle name down on my account. Very helpfully it doesn't let you edit your own name on the account ?.

There is a lot of pushback on this online as most people think they are going to keep your ID picture and sell it on.

As the site is controlled by DEFRA there is littlre possibility of that happening. One issue the EU regulations say it is the keeper who is primarily responsiblle for updating the passport now called a SLID single lifetime identity document
